Exclamation Using Mailchimp ?? (Might be good to look here...)
A bit of care to somehow backup one's list(s) may be warranted ??

The update and comments there are pretty cool too.

Mailchimp has a very clear TOS and openly discusses their compliance policies. Mailchimp can be a good alternative for noobs on a tight budget. Each person must be responsible for themselves and their business practices.

READ THE TOS and COMPLIANCE POLICIES!

This is so very well said - Thanks WW.
This is precisely why I shared this story - as a lesson for any business that uses electronically based data - an example of what NOT to have to go through.

Most folks think nothing of their data integrity UNTIL the suffering of data loss strikes - and then it is usually too late.

This goes quadruple in the era of SAAS - putting one's total trust in any 3rd party server based thing, and sort of ignoring that it could simply dry up and blow away anytime, or worse still, lock users out for any or no reason at all;
That is a very scary type of scenario.

This all is why I prefer self-hosted storage 1st - and if it isn't possible, then some regular and reliable method to take usable backups into off-site storage.
I totally despise board spammers and spambots !!!
