Thinking Like A Marketer
[Image: Your-blogs-sales-and-marketing-strategy-150x150.jpg]

Since the end of December, I’ve been on a trail of knowledge
acquiring path of destruction or I should say in this instance (since
I’m trying to learn new things) “construction”. I’ve been picking up a
few more books than usual (I usually read 4-5 hardcovers a month) along
with a slew of ebooks and magazines. One of the newest books I’ve been
reading is Think Like A Marketer (Google it and find it on Amazon). So
far, the book is (an almost scary) depiction of some of the things I’ve
said over the years online through my blogs on Cashtactics,
Convert2Media and now on the Grind and without a doubt, it contains a
lot of information I’ve said in some of our public speaking engagements.
I’ll probably cover a lot of important points from this book because
the content is so seemingly close to a lot of things I’ve said over the
years that it’s like a refreshing memory of badass information on what
it takes to be a “real marketer”. When I say “real marketer” what I’m
really saying is that I consider a real marketer someone who makes their
living, their entire livelihood on marketing. Which is exactly how I
put food on the table for the kiddos.

Starting off in Think Like A Marketer, there’s a very important piece
of content about 1 1/2 pages long. I’ve got it memorized already that’s
called “Inside the Marketer’s Head, A Different Way Of Thinking.” As a
marketer, pay REALLY close attention to the following below:

This is a highlight real of inside a marketer’s head and I know it makes perfect sense:

To think like a marketer, you must first understand how a marketer thinks…

Marketers:
  • Run through life with their minds wide open
  • They operate from a big-picture perspective while keeping their eyes on the finest details
  • They are optimists, always seeing the glass half-full even when it’s completely empty
  • They see opportunities everywhere and they strive never to leave anything on the table
  • They are bold and swift in action
  • They move with emergency, pouncing on every good chance knowing it could be gone in a click
  • They aren’t afraid to make the call, ask the imposing question, and “go there” when necessary
  • They are confident, persistent, and fully dedicated to their cause no matter where it takes them
  • Marketers become smart people readers because they are avid people watchers
  • Marketers ask questions, lots and lots of questions
  • Marketers are thinkers, big thinkers, deep thinkers, pervasive thinkers
  • They are always wondering what if, how could and why not
  • They see possibility when others see nothing, and they aren’t put off by nay-sayers, non-believers or risk
  • Marketers are rain-makers and difference-makers
  • They take charge, working strategically, and mindfully to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals
Marketers are unique breeds of people. If you’re a reader of this
blog or member of the private forums, then you already know and
understand this. That’s pretty much the reason you read us isn’t it?
Because Ryan and I relate so much to you that we interest you and you
interest us. Internet Marketing is not for the faint at heart. It takes a
shitload of dedication, motivation and persistence to be successful at
it. If you can conquer a some of these traits listed above, then surely
you can handle be a marketer. You owe it to yourself, your business and
your marketplace to be a smart and aggressive marketer. It’s easier than
you think, as long as you think like a marketer.
