Should Reps be Given with Bias?

Too many people give nothing, it may be a rubbish product and there are many NEW products that came out even in 2016/2017 that are total rubbish, just rehashed old stuff!

I was reading this back and forth here and I see both sides of the coin.

One is pretty much saying, if it is garbage, don't rep. (true to a degree)
The other is saying, rep for the effort rather than the product (also true to a degree)

I would suppose my opinion is not going to matter much since I don't share constantly here, I don't post very often, and I don't have all these cool ass insignia by my name.

But, I personally see reps as a way to say thank you for the effort of helping someone else.

On the one hand, the sharer shouldn't be held liable for the contents of the share, unless the rule follows that the sharer should now browse the contents of everything purchased/found/personally jacked.

If said content is sh*and, then it cannot be shared on the forum (which would negate like 80% of all content being sold on the internet).

However, if said OP does browse the contents and shares "Just" the solid benefit of the product (e.g. rips just part of the content that is valuable) then sharing that, it would make it worth the rep.

On another note, the OP isn't paid for sharing, so why would the OP then waste their time doing that at all?

So, in your opinion, should the OP be held liable for crappy content and lose any reps that would be given if it were great content?

Or should reps for shares be for the share itself, regardless of the content?

It all depends. I've seen shares that are lazy. OP just didn't care if it was quality or not or if it was from 10 years ago and outdated. More than likely dug up from an old hard drive and now they want to see if some goob will give them rep.

Then there are those that put out real S***** shares not because it's beneficial, but to show everyone else how shit the course in question is. I usually fully rep that kind of share. Not just because they save people money, but satisfies curiosity.

There are also shares where OP has purchased it and then post it here. A lot of times they are crap but I fully rep them anyway. After all, they did pay for it. Something most of us here don't want to do.

So yeah, most stuff is crap but I give reps anyway because it's the "sharing is caring" concept I am rewarding.

I rep because of the effort to share.

Though now I definitely will pay attention to what is actually shared.

i usually rep for the quality of the share and/or if i have found something good in it. normally i wont rep for the effort unless it's some newbie on the forum trying hard to share stuff. these guys deserve the rep love too for tryin' to contribute something....
