Shiny Object Syndrome - Indecisiveness- Reason for Failure after Failure
I know this sounds very stupid but its worth reading my dear friends. I think myself and most of us in this field or suffering from Shiny Object Syndrome.
How Do I Know If I Suffer? Here’s a list of characteristics associated with shiny object syndrome. Keep in mind: this is not an exhaustive list, and this isn’t the end, but it is a start. You have 100 domain names and no built-out websites. You think you are capable of doing things online and settle in your life making big money but it just doesn't work for you. You really know how to work with what you are working but everything just fails. You have too many things running in your mind You constantly start things, but never finish them. Is this you? Well, you’re not alone, MILLIONS of people suffer as well. You don’t have to go through this alone. We think of a new idea, we hear of a great new gadget or marketing technique, and ZOOM, we're off! There's great energy and excitement in starting something new. Of course what happens is that that everything always gets started, but nothing ever gets finished. In addition, countless hours and dollars are wasted in pursuit of the new, shiny object without having thought through whether this new item, technique, service or product is "right" for your business. I became to know about this few minutes ago. You can google it for more information about this. Seems this is a serious trouble and we need to fix ourselves. I think its because of the availability of alternatives which makes us jump from one thing to another. Any one else feeling this way ? |

RE: Shiny Object Syndrome - Indecisiveness- Reason for Failure after Failure
Very pertinent and useful thread HangiMaru.
Good points all. (+Rep given, of course.) This also needs to make reference to what happens to folks here; When a HUGE amount of stuff is so easy to get, it has folks grabbing GBs of stuff they'll never use. The core problem remains the same=> If someone ONLY grabs stuff that they'll DEFINITELY use along with quickly deleting any that is not useful for them, both TMI and SOS can be avoided. Personally speaking now: Before it became clear to me that most MMO stuff made by IMers is just useless, over-hyped BS...I grabbed WAY too much stuff just to check it out...BUT... There are only so many hours in the days and it piles up too fast. Lately I've been mass deleting entire categories of that useless stuff simply because I now know with certainty that I'll NEVER use it at all. AND=> Very little downloading anymore with almost all of it quickly deleted as useless for me. CPA ?? Stock trading ?? I'll never do that stuff, so anything pointing towards it gets instantly deleted. |
