If a Campaign Admin’s crowdfunding campaign is unsuccessful in reaching its crowdfunding goal, no Affiliate User commission will be paid out to you.

Yes- good point, and I should have made that clear. That said there are a couple of mitigating factors:
a) Not all crowdfunding campaigns operate that way, but yes, you do need to be careful, so best not to go for a badly supported product that has a goal-based target.
b) Quite a lot of products on the platform are not crowdfunded - they are on the Shopify platform, so this restriction doesn't apply.
