SEO PowerSuite Enterprise (with expired pro version updates workaround)
SEO PowerSuite Enterprise (with expired pro version updates workaround)

If you do not have the expired license problem I describe below, just download the latest version and follow the setup routine.

My problem...

I took advantage of the "free" Rank Tracker Pro version give-a-way by the company a few months ago (not the Suite but just RankTracker which is the only program I use).

I was disappointed that the pro version will not let you export reports. You can see them, but need the enterprise version to export reports. Then I found out yesterday that my "free" pro version updates expired and they want $7+/- per month to update the search engines rendering the program useless.

I downloaded and followed the instructions below and the serials worked perfectly for the latest enterprise version on all of the programs EXCEPT RankTracker. It was still expired. I used Revo Uninstaller Pro and deleted all leftover traces found, but still couldn't register RankTracker. So the workaround that allowed me to reset the program so I could enter a new serial is as follows. It's long but it worked on both of my PCs (XP and Vista). You will need to download the latest version of the Suite from the company AND download the OLD version shared on IJ to get two files need to do the workaround.

The links for the new version are

Code:
Code: with java runtime- http://www.link-assistant.com/download/windows/seopowersuite-jre.zip
without java - http://www.link-assistant.com/download/windows/seopowersuite.zip
for MAC OS X- http://www.link-assistant.com/download/macosx/seopowersuite.tar.gz
for linux - http://www.link-assistant.com/download/linux/seopowersuite.tar.gz
The only working link to the OLD version is

Code:
Code:
http://www.fileserve.com/file/esnf5pF
WORKAROUND...I only needed this on RankTracker. Other serials worked perfectly.

1) Follow instructions and uninstall your old versions (if you have any).
2) Reinstall new Suite of programs. DO NOT run programs after installation.
3) Edit your HOSTS file as instructed. To confirm it is working, try to go to the companies website. If you cannot open their website in your browser, the HOSTS file edits are working properly for this procedure.
4) Extract the OLD version download. Navigate to the RankTracker "bin" folder and copy "ranktracker.jar" and "common.jar" to the clipboard. Now open the NEW program installation folder at C:/Program Files/SEO PowerSuite/RankTracker/bin/
5) DO NOT paste cracked files into folder yet. First, rename the two NEW installation original JAR files (ranktracker.jar and common.jar) to other names. I used ranktrackerORIGINAL.jar and commonORIGINAL.jar. NOW paste the cracked JAR files into the NEW installation folder.
6) Now try to run the ranktracker.exe. It should show an error message saying you will have to re-enter your license details (DO NOT send error report to company). I then opened up my Task Manager and a process named javaw.exe (because it was using all of my PC power). Now delete the two cracked JAR files and rename the original JARs back to their respective original names and restart the program. Enter the serials provided for the Enterprise version to register.

WHEW! That worked for me.

Instruction for installation:

Uninstall all previous version to have a proper installation.

1) Download the version via the given URL with java machine if java isn't installed on your computer

2) Launch installation, at the END, DON'T OPEN ANY PROGRAMS !

3) Modify your HOSTS file and go to download URL for verifying hosts file is active.

4) If you can't access to download URL, you're good, if not, your HOSTS file is NOT active and CAN'T work.

5) Launch SEO SpyGlass, go to help, and click at the bottom of the menu to enter serial.

6) You will a successful message.

7) And repeat the process for the others programs.

It's simple as you can see. Some mistakes are due to a wrong hosts file or a different version of software.

Follow Instructions Below to edit host file:

1. Open Notepad and edit your HOSTS file. Add the following lines to the bottom of your
Code:
c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Put them on their own separate lines!

Code: 127.0.0.1 link-assistant.com
127.0.0.1 http://www.link-assistant.com
In Vista or Windows 7

(start your notepad/editor as administrator (right click, start as administrator (Vista/Win7), then you can open and save the hosts file)

Make sure Notepad doesn't add any extension (like .txt) to the HOSTS file. It does not have any file extension!

Hope it works for you.

The subscription is to make sure data is accurate whenever there is search engine algorithm change, right? Does it mean eventually this software is not reliable since we are not getting the updates?

To update just add # in front of the two lines added in the hosts file. Then update the database or software. Once done, remove the # signs again.

That's it.
