Rankin Category VS Ranking Page using Wordpress

Hi Everyone and Thanks to this awesome community wich help me a lot in IM Area and moreover, in my life...
Now, the question :

Using Wordpress, Is ranking a Category Page is more difficult/different from ranking a static Page ?

Of course, my Category Pages are optimized with SEO Title and Description like an introduction text, exactly as a classic static page.
The interest for me to choose Category and not Page is because My category is updated daily and show fresh and relevant content every day.
After few test, it seems that Pages ranked best that Category with the exact same content, but I don't know exactly if such results are affected with the "drunk Google" of past few weeks.

Thanks a lot to help me with this questions, I don't know if I've to follow my strategy ranking Category, or switch to a full static Page site.

PS: Sorry for my bad english this is not my first language but I try hard too

I rank both no problem, but i like pages 1st over post. Depends on what i'm building.

Thanks Gixxer, so you don't see a difference between pages and category.
Anyone want to share his experience about this subject ?
