Experiences with using KDP Rocket and Kindle Samurai

Not sure how many people have heard about them, but if you haven't, these are the websites and prices:

http://kindlesamurai. net/ - 20 USD (supposedly going to increase to 40)

Both programs claim to show you which ideas are profitable for publishing nonfiction or fiction, and how to get visibility through optimal keyword research (more or less)
The problem is that neither does anything you can't do yourself. They basically just tell you how popular some keywords are. They're different programs which have slightly different features, but after trying both, I wouldn't recommend either one
If you want to 'write to market' and don't have a lot of time on your hands, then maybe this is something you'd be interested in. But you don't need to spend any money to find keywords and conduct competitor analyses. Some of KDP Rocket's information is just pulled from this: https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner

Refunding Kindle Samurai was also very difficult. No one would answer my emails and I was forced to open a Paypal dispute to get my money back

Basically I'm posting here to say 'if you hear about either of these programs, save your money - don't bother with them'. Some high profile people have endorsed them (mostly KDP Rocket) but I think that's because of their affiliate program, not because it's a must-have for self-publishers

I see the potential usefulness but it doesn't seem worth the price - not unless you value your time a lot, and don't want to do in depth research before/after putting pencil to paper. Instead of purchasing either program, you can simply spend a few hours doing market research - is there a potential audience for your idea? (usually there is, no matter how small, you just have to find them) And what are popular keywords related to that idea? (google can help you with that, along with browsing amazon categories)
