[READ THIS] GENUINE CCleaner Software Hacked With Malware

Guys,

If you don't already know, the official Piriform CCleaner download servers have been compromised with malware for around a month (ironically, Piriform is now owned by AVAST!)

So, if you downloaded / updated CCleaner between 15 August 2017 and 11 September 2017 your machine is probably infected with malware.

The malware has apparently now been disabled, but you should update to the latest version of CCleaner immediately. You can also use Malwarebytes to find and remove any infection.

The OFFICIAL CCleaner download server was compromised with malware, which was CONFIRMED by AVAST (who own Piriform and CCleaner) so ALL LEGAL copies WERE INFECTED.

Read the article I linked to. In fact, check Google news for CCleaner security-related articles over the last 24 hours or so.

AVAST/CCleaner have tried to keep the malware problems quiet by just releasing an update, as AVAST's stock price would probably plummet if they emailed everyone (as they really should do)

Free or paid these days most devs put trackers in their tools. That includes me.

But looking at this hack. I can say its a nice concept considering last mass ransomware spreading.

They could have easily locked pc with a free tool not made by them.

But they didnt. I guess more is coming soon. Android is bugged a huge level now.

Thanks for heads up. I stopped using ccleaner way back in time only because they don't spend a dime to protect their paid versions.

The CURRENT version is clean. The previous version (v5.33.6162) is the one which contained the malware, and is the version which RealSteel scanned showing a 40/63 infection score here: https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/1a4a51.../detection
