Problem with Facebook Identity - NEED HELP!!
Hello,
I need to find a way to contact Facebook directly. Their pre-registered problems are not sufficient. I need to find a phone number/and or postal address/and or email for their legal department. And to add to the difficulty, the problem I am faced with is in France. I'm sure the US office could give me the info .... if I could find them!!!! (I found one number but it is fake - it goes to the national law enforcement agency not their customer service ) Here's the problem, but I need to keep this confidential so not too many details: There is a high-level government official, here in France, who has had a fake identity created as "his name (his function)" and it says he is in the same city as this government official. The cover photo is of his predecessor (in uniform) with the mayor of the city and the profile picture is of yet another government official in the SAME function but in a different city. This is clearly a fake profile, but Facebook has responded each time that it does not recognize that there is any infringement on the rules. Part of this government official's functions requires them to be duty-bound to greater reservation and professional discretion - so by French law this profile is illegal even if it were a "real" profile. Facebook France does not recognize this as a problem - through the regular channels. Anyone have any ideas of how to contact them?? All I need is a real contact and the local government office will send the necessary letter with the official letter-head etc. Hoping someone can help me Thanks in advance P.S. Since we're in a private forum .... how can I leak this to the press without it coming from me?? |

RE: Problem with Facebook Identity - NEED HELP!!
doesn't sound like you have too much evidence to this or facebook would have acknowledged it. so it's boiling down to your word against theirs. the news ain't gonna want any part of it unless you can show undeniable proof. not too sure how you would have this either. you were pretty vague but want to release the information publically? this makes no sense to me.
almost sounds like you had bad dealings with someone and want some sort of revenge now.... You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone that can never repay you

No, no vengence at all. I was vague because he is a high level government official and I was hoping to get info on how to contact them directly without making it public, or bringing lawyers. The government lawyers did look into it. The problem is simple: The government official in question has kept his facebook "personal" which means he has not put in his current job (or office). Since there is no mention of his current position, in Facebook's eyes there is no identity theft ..... but a couple weeks later the "fake" identities did disappear. |
