You may Try this freeware program to retrieve to direct link. i use it for retrieve direct links with great success. Most of time you can reach your target but sometimes can't.

I tried IDM and every time I tried to download it froze my browser and never downloaded.

I tried both chrome and firefox....very frustrating....
