Medical baloney.
I make no secret of the fact that I disdain ALL things medical;
With the ONLY exceptions being those of stitching up wounds or setting broken bones (necessary support for the body's own healings) - but IMO the rest is like 99% hogwash and open, visible ripoffs. A very long article from Time is attached. It has been cleaned up to make it a bit easier to read. Source URL: Code: http://content.time.com/time/subscriber/printout/0,8816,2136864,00.html In that article there are some lines which definitely reinforce my own observations based upon personal experiences, and here are a couple of those specific lines: Quote:...all the usual chargemaster profit grabs: $18 each for 88 diabetes-test strips that Amazon sells in boxes of 50 for $27.85; $24 each for 19 niacin pills that are sold in drugstores for about a nickel apiece. There were also four boxes of sterile gauze pads for $77 each. Quote: ...and $108,663 for "SPECIAL DRUGS," which included mostly not-so-special drugs such as "SODIUM CHLORIDE .9%." That's a standard saline solution probably used intravenously in this case to maintain Scott's water and salt levels. (It is also used to wet contact lenses.) You can buy a liter of the hospital version (bagged for intravenous use) online for $5.16. Scott was charged $84 to $134 for dozens of these saline solutions. I could go on endlessly about ripoffs done to me by these medsters, but I will not further bore you with my anecdotes here. Hopefully some folks will get some good info from the article.
I totally despise board spammers and spambots !!!
