On a normal server setup (VPS or dedicated server) with cPanel, and everything up to date, with default out of the box settings (php.ini and all that), it works just fine. Thanks for the reply. I'm on a VPS, but I'm not sending emails from my server. I have no plans to spam anyone and am using Amazon SES (similar to Sendgrid). Everything seems to work fine, except I'm unable to send test emails (Settings > Mail Server Details > Let me specify my own SMTP server details). This is the error I get: A test email has not been successfully sent to the email address ****@gmail.com: Login failed, please check the username and password and try again. Not sure why, the same SMTP credentials work fine with arpReach. So, I'll ask again... Anyone get it to work with AWS SES? |

Hi Cyberpunk, I'm trying to use this version, but every time when ran the test, system was returning an error: Connection refused(111), the environment I'm using is Bluehost, do you think this is a problem?
BTW, how to make IEM work with PowerMTA, is there any tutorial, such as video, PDF, etc.? |

Hi Cyberpunk,
Thanks for letting us have a play with this. finally got it configured, testing went ok. however, keep getting this cron error via email (instructed IEM to email cron reports): Cannot load the ionCube PHP Loader - it was built with configuration 2.2.0, whereas running engine is API220090626,NTS Failed loading /usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-3.3.9/php-5.2.x/ZendOptimizer.so: /usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-3.3.9/php-5.2.x/ZendOptimizer.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I got in touch w/ the hosting company, they corrected the ioncube and rolled back the php from 5.3 to 5.2. They cannot think of anything else on what could be wron Any ideas? cheers Pls [+rep] me if I've helped you
(It's a great motivator) |

It is only worth it if you have your own server. It is very close to a SPAM program for me, even if you have a good list of subscribers! |

You are correct about the server. Shared cheap ass crap hosting is not going to work. You need to cough up some extra cash/month if you want to mail, and there is no getting around that. You will need at least a VPS, which will cost you about $30/mo or more. If you only need a bigger server for mailing, then get a VPS. You don't need a dedicated server if the whole purpose is for emailing. Most VPS providers offer unlimited emails per hour. Mine costs about $20/month plus about $10/mo for cpanel. I do not use servers without cpanel, it just makes managing the server a lot easier! So when looking at the VPS costs, also consider the price of adding cPanel to it. I highly recommend having cpanel! Also make sure you throttle your own hourly rate. For starters, stick to maybe 1k/hour or something fairly low for a few email blasts.. and keep your total # of recipients low.. maybe send to 4k at 1k/hr, which would take 4 hours to send. Send every few days, either to that list or another... Then you can slowly increase the max/hour and the total recipients... I can blast you 5k an hour if I wanted to about 50-60k contacts... if you try to do that on day 1, you will land in spam folders easily.. you have to work your way up.. remember, Google/Yahoo/Hotmail are all monitoring how many emails per hour, and per day, they get from you. A sudden huge spike will set off red flags... start small and slow, and build your way up.. it builds trust with them and will allow you to have a better inbox rate when sending to 60 or 100k people! |
