Lightbulb [INFO] Blackhat or Justice - you decide !!
This is about Udemy.
The point of this is simply that they've really screwed the pooch when it comes to quality control...it seems they have none at all, actually.

So many things that are called courses are just uploaded PLR, or sales webinars, or labeled as being in english when they are made by non-english speakers with such heavily accented voices as to be incomprehensible.

Then finally we come to the sound quality !!
Some are so full of other noise, or so low as to be inaudible, or the author has music in the background making it even harder to follow whatever they are babbling on about.

OK, that's enough of that...so here is what I suggest for anyone who is as pissed as can be about having their time and efforts wasted by these abortions made by folks who shouldn't have been published at all:

If it is a paid course from a known lousy author - its OK to buy it as their 30 day refund is your friend.

1. Get Allavsoft, which I and others have shared here.

2. If there is absolutely anything remotely useful in the material grab it.

3. Be sure to get ALL materials if desired as Allavsoft only gets the videos and subtitles.

4. Make a well deserved and totally honest review - even knowing that Udemy is now actively censoring reviews.

5. Message the author with the review text and star rating copied from your review to be sure they will see it.

6. Get a refund very soon and copy the review into that too, if you wish.

Result=>
Maybe some info of value...or not - but doing things this way assures that the bean counters at Udemy will have to take notice of authors who are always getting bad reviews and refund requests.

Please notice that I am NOT suggesting to do this with good courses (yes, there are a few there, still) - and right now many or most courses can be had for 9.99 in their 'black friday sale' - so it is a good time to get what you've wish listed and make a local copy of it for easy viewing !!

I hope this info may be at least a little helpful for some folks here.

PS:
Please do reply with your opinions, rants and whatever else comes to mind as pertains to Udemy 'courses'.
Thanks

RE: [INFO] Blackhat or Justice - you decide !!
I agree with you that the quality of courses has diminished as the volume of courses had become a firehose blasting out 75% junk and 25% OK-to-great courses.

The biggest effect you can have on Udemy is to get your courses with the free coupons here from you and other Udemy sharers. I have only bought 1 course in the last few months, and it was from an author that never posts a coupon code or goes on sale.

Seriously, everything I have wanted or needed to learn in the last year on Udemy (except the aforementioned course) I have gotten for free here and a few from Facebook groups.

Reps to you for all your efforts that benefit us 'Hats here!

RE: [INFO] Blackhat or Justice - you decide !!
Thanks for your thoughtful reply here Arnie !!!

Given their 9.99 deal right now there was a single, short, video-only 'course' I wanted to check out that was last updated a year ago, with no announcements nor any q&a.

The author is clearly spoken (but with variable sound quality...) and the 'lectures' are all ~3 minutes long.

I did what I've said previously here, and asked a question there to see if he responds at all;
If he does not, I got the tiny bit of info I wanted and will be 100% OK with getting a refund.

This would be about the same as paying 9.99 for a 'secret' URL, not so different from the things sold here lots of times, really.

What -IS- different is the absence of hassle with Udemy;
Ask for a refund and boom, done.

I'm sure Udemy doesn't give a hang about its users and never will - but this user will not pay for a tiny drip of info from something that has gone 100% inactive.

I cannot change how things work, except for how I deal with them, which I'll do !!
Thanks
