How Do You Index Into Search Engines Other Than Google?
How Do You Index Into Search Engines Other Than Google?
Here is some basic theory for you. You basically just need you link on a site that gets crawled. So an super easy way to index in google and yahoo (and presumably bing) is to go to yahoo answers and answer a question that is related to your niche. Give a quality answer then put your link in the answer box or the source box. You will have to answer a few questions and get to level 2 before you links start going live, but once you have an account there its easy to throw in a link. If you can't find any questions related to your niche then build a free blog with a post or two on wordpress. Then put your link in one of the posts. Make one of the posts about a popular topic on yahoo answers and one about your niche. Then go to yahoo answers and answer a question about the popular topic and put a link to the popular topic post on the blog in the answer or source box. Then when the bots hit Y! answers it hits the blog then (assuming you have some kind of internal linking going on, even a recent post widget or something.) the bot will also see your post about your niche and index it. This can be done in many different ways, but you get the point. I know Google crawls Y! answers daily. When I used to run proxies and post on Y! answers, my logs would show the Gbot hit my site at least 1 time per day, every day. And of course yahoo crawles their own content rigorously. Presumably bing and msn do the same. You can take this many directions besides Y! answers as well. Go to Yahoo and leave a comment in a news article thats on the home page and put you link in the comment box/profile page. Search yahoo or bing for a wordpress.com blog on topic with your niche. On the blog look at what tags the article has. Assuming its ranked in yahoo/bing it has been crawled (obviously). So then create a wordpress.com blog with a post about your niche and your link in it. Add the exact same tag (s) as a page that is ranked in yahoo/bing. Wordpress creates separate pages for these tages. So they will crawl that page that is already ranked, hit the tag page which will also list your blog, then it will hit your blog, and hit your link. Search Yahoo or bing for a forum. Join up, intro yourself/add useful content. Throw a link to your site, (or any web property that has a link to your site), in the sig box. Search Yahoo/Bing/Google/MSN (whatever you want to index in) for blogs/Web 2.0 properties, anything that lets you contribute content that is related to your niche. Comment on someones squidoo/blog/quizilla/whatever page and put your link in, or some page that has a link to you. Thus your indexed in the engine of choice. Probably a safe bet that things like Wordpress.com and Yahoo answers are crawled by all the engines that are relevant and that you can use them to hit them all at once. This way you also pick up a free link |
