RE:
I was with GoDaddy for about 2 years. It was affordable, but had many many drawbacks...especially if you plan on using script based websites from codecanyon or a hosted autoresponder (GoDaddy doesn't host that stuff well or at all). Anyways I ended up moving over to HostGator. HostGator has 75% off sales every month or two so if you are looking for good hosting I recommend waiting for one of those sales to happen. I waited til a 75% off sale and I ended up scoring 3 years of business class hosting with HostGator for $160 (beat that). Long story short I love HostGator, incredible hosting and runs pretty much all my scripts and websites flawlessly, I have also noticed my sites are running a lot faster in comparison to GoDaddy hosting. Also the 24/7 live chat tech support is a lifesaver when you run into issues at 2am. Though I still use GoDaddy as my domain registrar
always +REP those who help you, it's the least you could do.

Prior to GoDaddy I did have an account with DreamHost. DreamHost was ok, but overall I had many issues with their hosting. For example DreamHost did not at the time support cpanel (Major Drawback in my opinion), custom cron jobs, and various custom PHP scripts...similar to my GoDaddy issues, However I have never had any of those issues with HostGator. While HostGator offers live chat support 24/7 for free, DreamHost charged $9.95 a month for phone or chat support and the wait times were horrible. HostGator overall was cheaper for me, while they ran their 75% off sale (which they do often) I was able to get 3 years of their Business class hosting package for only $167.00, while even with the coupon you generously provided for DreamHost I would only be able to get two years of their standard package for $140.00 before taxes, $259.76 in total for three years on dreamhost. So with HostGator I was able to get a more premium package and still save almost $100. When it gets down to the more technical side HostGator has faster server response times (which means a faster loading website for me, and a better browsing experience for my visitors), a higher up-time percentage, and because of cpanel on HostGator, I have better integration and more capabilities...as DreamHost for some bizarre reasoning chooses to use their own custom Control Panel which is lacking in features and prone to issues especially when trying to transfer websites from or to their hosting. Anyways that is just my breakdown on HostGator and DreamHost. While I am sure their are many people do enjoy DreamHost, I having used both hosting providers, do not understand why someone would decide to pay a higher price for slower server time, lower up times, and less features, support and customization. Hope this information and my overall experience is helpful(11-05-2014 06:55 AM)SEOmega Wrote: I was with GoDaddy for about 2 years. Everything is done manually (cuz some cheap executive cant invest in tech.)!!! Excessive waiting time for live support (min 30 mins onward).... Turtle speed support team in India (i love India) but this company seem to higher people with low to no skills. Its why they can afford to lure buyers in with their low prices. They don't have process to follow and are very random. AVOID at all costs. They will put your website offline for any and all reasons without notifying you. |
