When I now go to zippyshare it want to download an app into the browser. Obviously, I am not going to do that. How do all of you get around this?

I've been having a horrible time with 'zippy'
the last few days in particular.
I switch to "Epic Privacy Browser" and then
have no problems.

BTW..Epic is known for the cookie and popup blocker,
so a good popup blocker "might" help with this problem

@magnum and bruiser: I can attest to the issues with Zippy, which is why I rarely use it to upload to anymore. And (bruiser) is right; Epic Privacy Browser is what I'm using more and more. It does a lot more than Firefox's and Chrome's Privacy Browsing features. But I wanted to also say I have Malwarebytes running in the background (Avast is my primary A-V). So that, when Zippy re-directs to all those spammy and potentially dangerous sites, my Malwarebytes (MWB) shows up in my system tray to let me know it "intercepted" (I had to use that word; I'm a pro football fan!) it for me. So I have no worries. MWB simply relegates the pop-up or pop-under to an area where it cannot harm my computer and automatically quarantines it. I can always go back in the MWB interface and look for any instances where I can put the web URL in manually so that the page won't be caught and quarantined in the future. You can download MWB free but there are more benefits (features) with the paid version.

I noticed some Zippy links work flawlessly; but most will throw up all kinds of strange crap in the background to keep you from reaching the download link.

If you don't want to download MWB, you just need to be fast and close off (X) all the pop-ups or temporarily minimize your active browser to check for pop-unders. A lot of time, you won't even know there's something running behind your browser until you hear an audio file playing or you're lucky enough to see a flash of light that is a different color than your active browser. But it's smart to have an A-V program like MWB that not only catches and quarantines these annoying S-O-Bs but keep them from screwing around with your registry, loading unwanted adware and worst, installing key-loggers or browser re-directs that escape normal (human) detection.

Pardon my long-winded post. I am not trying to throw off the conversation or hijack this thread. I wanted to give some insight (and a couple of solutions) to anyone still having problems using Zippyshare links.

So, in summary ...

1. Use Epic Privacy Browser (it needs to be closed and re-opened regularly but it does a superior job of blocking tracking and protecting your privacy)

2. Download MALWAREBYTES if you don't already have it. You can have more than one A-V program so don't think you can't get the free version because you already have a preferred A-V program.

3. (If you decide against getting MWB) Be mindful when using Zippy that you will be re-directed in most cases. Don't get frustrated and close the window. Just be patient and quick ... you've gotta close off all browsers that attempt to open after you click the download link. Shut them down as many times as necessary (usually twice) before you click the download link again. The download should open then.

Try it on your next troublesome Zippy link.
