[Get] Psychedelic Healing: The Promise of Entheogens for Psychotherapy and Spiritual Development

This is a great introduction for anyone that is interested in the the psychological and spiritual applications to be gained from the proper use of psychedelics.

The book describes a brief history of psychedelics and their use in ancient and modern tribal cultures. It describes the research conducted in the 50s and 60s, focusing on the beneficial findings of these studies, but also pointing out the flaws of those original studies and how those flaws should be corrected in future studies.

The author talks of his own process of psychedelic healing and uses it as an example throughout. Well this was helpful in many cases, there were some ideas I felt were to vague and needed more explanation. For example, his description of his personal issues regarding to his childhood and his relationship with his mother seems to dominate the discussion in a way that makes it feel like all personal issues are related to childhood problems. It also seems lime the author is suggesting that anyone with personal issues had parents with bad and ineffective parenting styles. I personally suffer from depression bipolar and am also very interested in spirituality. But my childhood was a very good one and only when I was in high school was there any kind of big family problems that have effected my condition. Therefore I felt the author did not touch on how I could specifically use these methods for my benefit.
