RE:
SMH. No wonder why you guys haven't made anything. Why do you guys always try to sell on the first visit? Does a spider eat its prey as soon as it is caught? No. It envenoms it for a tasty meal later. It's not the traffic source that's the problem, it's you. You have to understand it. Every paid traffic course of any substance tries to beat this in the reader's head, but the overwhelming majority of people for some reason ignore it.

Common mistakes I see people make not only on IBO but other paid traffic sources as well.

#1 No plan.

You can't be that naive to think throwing up a banner on any site is going to open up the heavens and rain down sales in your coffers. The overwhelming majority of ads running on IBO and its sisters sites are direct links to sales pages. That's the absolute stupidest thing you can do. How many times have you whipped out the old credit card when you've landed on a sales page? Let me guess, not very often. Now, why in the world would you expect the opposite for some random stranger? Design and make a detailed blueprint of your sales funnel from the ad to conversion.

#2 Promoting Offers Blindly.

Have you actually looked at what you're trying to promote? Have you actually used the software, read the ebook or completed the entire course? Most of the products that you guys are trying to promote are shared here. For on e in your life, how about actually using the shit. Is it worth the money? Is it crap? If it's good, have you found any flaws or saw room for improve in a specific area? Point it out and you've just found your 10 page PDF or 5 minute video/audio that visitors can't get anywhere else.

If it's not shared here or anywhere else, ask the product owner for a review. If they won't relent, fk'em and find something else to promote. Here's a revolutionary idea! How about picking up the phone and calling the product owner via info found on the contact page or WHOIS, if available.

#3 Not Understanding The Traffic Source.

On IBO and its sister sites, all text and banners ads are not created equal.
  • Different credit costs.
  • Not testing multiple text and banner ads.
  • Not testing different banners sizes.
  • Not testing banner on page location.
  • Not testing banner display on other domains.
  • Not testing banner display speed.
  • Not segmenting campaigns by banner/size/page location/speed/domain/geo/OS/etc..
  • Not split testing landers.
Example: 720x90 banner has a high CTR on IBOToolbox, running at fast display speed, has a high LTR, but single digit CVR with a -15% ROI. That same banner has a lower CTR on IBOTube, a decent LTR, but has a double digit CVR with a 40% ROI for a buy of $25.

#4 Your campaigns have fail written all over them.

Use a tracker stupid! Prosper202 is free. Nulled versions of iMobiTrax and CPVLab are available on here. If you look hard enough, you can find STM's tracker online. Voluum is free up to 100K clicks. Thrive gives you the whole shebang for a month free. Know your tracker like the back of your hand. Throwing shit against the wall only leads to a S***** wall. Remember what I said earlier about contacting the product owner? He/she can place your tracking pixel on their product thank you page. You'll have data most product promoters don't which equals less work for you for affiliate programs that don't offer postback. There is nothing more frustrating than having to waste time manually updating subids. *cough* JVZoo *cough*

#5 Capturing leads should be your number one priority.

Since you don't have someone or a service capturing leads for you, you have to do it yourself. That doesn't mean throwing up a basic opt-in form with a hero image and expect people to break their necks to sign up. You're actually going to have to write some content and give visitors a reason to give up their real contact info. Make it easy for them. Use software or a plugin to make the actual signup process as easy as possible. Facebook Connect, Google Plus, Twitter API implementation is a plus. That way you know you're getting their primary email address. All you need in the beginning is their email. No name. Just the email will do. You get the rest of their demographic data (age range, sex, income, location, phone, mobile, etc.) via a survey in your autoresponder series.

#6 Giving up before collecting enough data.

The free 500 credits equals:
  • 2500 Text Ad Impressions
  • 1250 468x60 Banner Ad Impressions
  • 500 250x250 Banner Ad Impressions
  • 250 728x90 Banner Ad Impressions
That's nowhere near enough data collection for CPM. You're actually have to knuckle down and pay for one of the traffic packages.

Example: $25 USD for 5000 credits.
  • 25000 Text Ad impressions = .001¢ per click
  • 12500 468x60 Banner Imps = .002¢ per click
  • 5000 250x250 Banner Imps = .005¢ per click
  • 2500 728x90 Banner Imps = .01¢ per click
That's PPV traffic prices without popups. You'll be hard pressed to find traffic of this type that cheap anywhere online.

#7 Take a week out of you life designing your autoresponder series.

You don't have to start from scratch. Use other successful autoresponder series as a template. If the product your promoting has one, sign up for it and model yours off of what's working. That doesn't mean being lazy and copying the product owner's verbatim. Actually put some thought into this. It'll pay dividends down the road. Most of you have cell phones or devices that can record audio. Install an app to record your voice and transcribe it to be added to your autoresponder. You can tile multiple versions of your text editor to ensure that you autoresponder messages flow perfectly. Hell, I have a few autoresponder series that last up to a few months.

#8 Use a heatmap on your lander and make triggers in your landers, tracker and autoresponder based on it.

You got the visitor to click. Guide them where you want them to go. Tip: Everyone doesn't have to start at Day 1 in your autoresponder series. Some people are more receptive to your offer. It doesn't hurt to give them a little nudge.

Well, that's all for now. That's just a few mistakes I like to point out that I see a lot of people make when it comes to not only IBO, but paid traffic in general. If you see any mistakes I've made, point them out. I make mistakes myself everyday.

Your effort alone deserves rep from me. :)
