As the author said, elitedaily sold for 45 million and that started out as a 1 man band. Same with boredpanda. Highly unlikely youll achieve the same success but anything is possible.

Yes, this is the Content curation method, which Is very much do-able, but as others mentioned it takes time to get the ball rolling.
Plus, you don't have to do a "pure" curation, you can easily mix it with other methods i.e.: selling your own product, building your email list etc... - do this way you won't even need so many visitors.

There are also many software to help you with this task: ICC Express coming to mind...
