The Platinum files seem ok at the moment but very slow to download...

that's the problem with google drive. It's a storage cloud, not sharing cloud, so it has a download limit. Since the links are shared freely here hundred of people will download and eat all traffic which leads to the error you are facing.
the only way is to wait and download again later or wait for someone to make mirror.
