RE: [GET] Violence A Writer's Guide -Rory Miller
Thank you, BlackTopHat. I added double-nickels (+5 reps twice) for this great share. This is potentially a very useful tool for fiction writers.

@All: It can be a challenge for a writer to put themselves in the frame of mind they place their characters in and (IMHO), you must be able to do that in order to write believable scenes. Your readers must FEEL what the characters are going through in order to CARE about the outcome. Problem is: it is scary enough for the average person to even IMAGINE real violence yet, the potential is real for us to face it every single day. You no longer have to leave the (supposed) safety of your home to find yourself in danger.

So this book can help us to understand better where how violent minds think so that we, as writers, can more comfortably embrace it for writing scenes that involve those episodes, in order to flesh out scenes that are more believable to the reader and that, hopefully, intensify the plot and make the overall read more compelling.

And if you're interested in more Rory Miller stuff, this author has other good books over at b(dash)ok(dot)cc that you can grab for free. Those titles include:

- Facing Violence: Preparing for the Unexpected
- The Little Black Book of Violence That Every Young Man Needs to Know About (foreword by Rory Miller)
- Training for Sudden Violence: 72 Practice Drills

Information in any of these books can be a very useful resource for helping you to build your characters' mindset, skill-set and decision-making abilities during a "fight-or-flight" scenario where violence threatens to put their (and their loved ones') lives in danger.

I suggest you go to Amazon.com to search for Kindle e-books you like and then check for the titles over at either Library Genesis or Z-Library to see if they're available to download for free!

Thanks
for reading!

This writer is copywriter Ian Stanley's martial arts teacher. I have those three books as well.
Thanks, Layna!
