Thanks ilikeseggs for the update and thanks to the OP for this potentially awesome share. Never heard of it before despite doing a lot of writing and want to kick myself in the butt for not having discovered it sooner. Thanks so much, guys, for this share!

Anything that can be said in favour of WordWeb is an understatement - it is so useful as to defy description !!

Even the free or older version is great - and add in the cool extras that are so easily found, and...
WOW.
Besides all its dictionary-like functions, once you have it you will not need the spellcheckers in most apps anymore.
So I suggest giving it a spin - you may be very pleasantly surprised.

It is the single go-to app that I really miss always having right at hand...
(Now that I use Linux exclusively I wish I could make it work just as it did under windows.)
Sadly there are versions of it for everything EXCEPT Linux and the dev ignores inquiries about it.

Greetings to Ilikeseggs and All.

Having looked at that VT result it seems obvious to my eyes that most (or all) of the warnings are from hateful AVs that target KGs to scare folks away from using them.

There are loads of good ways to run a KG (even an infected one) risk-free, starting with the (now freeware) SandboxIE app which isolates stuff running in it very well under windows.

Someplace I have an older KG for WordWeb that worked 100% for me and I've never needed to use it again since then.
When I shifted to all-Linux I just copied my whole WordWeb folder into my new system and tweaked it a little to make it run the way I prefer for it to do.
