I call BS and here's why. There's all kinds of people out there from different backgrounds, wants and needs. Imagine...we have over 7 billion. Personally I love options. The more options the better. So, in summation...I think he's simply generalizing. He's a professor with loads of data and in order to cause a stir to sell books...one could focus on literally any study and you'll find a 100 others to counter it.

Just take a look at global warming, religion and class wars for example!
