No, it doesn't need key, but if you are using it without purchased license http://codecanyon.net/item/swift-securit...n/10143693 on your site the legal owner of the file (Swift Technologies Ltd.) can take legal actions.

How does this compare to Ithemes Security Pro? To me, ISPro seems like overkill. There is no reason for anything they suggest. Iv been running WP installations for Years and Years and iv yet to get hacked. To me its total overkill and slow down your blog to the max.

So does anyone know how this plugin compares?

Swift Security won't slow down your page. You can check it with http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/
We paid special attention to performance.

On an average site Firewall blocks 5-10 automated hacking attempts per week (eg revslider local file inclusion). It doesn't mean that without the plugin these attempts would be successful, but who knows. :)

There is a comment spam blocker, which works without captcha, and a full Hide WordPress feature which improves security (because it hides 0day vulnerabilities)

I developed the plugin for general users who doesn't know anything about security. I'm working on nginx and multisite support and it will be ready soon.. but as I see you guys look for a free way to get the plugin, instead of support me of development. It's not a win - win situation, but I'm sure there are people around here with conscience who will respect my work and buy it for F****** 19 bucks..
