RE:
Really Long FAQs :)

Q: Is there an upsell?
A: Yes! I'm holding a 3-day Kindle writing workshop for those who would like more direct help, feedback, and suggestions on their books before publishing and selling at Amazon. It is NOT required (everything you need to write a great Kindle book is in this WSO package), but the workshop will help kick-start you and get you to take massive action! Workshop participants will get to see me create a new Kindle book in 3 days - and if you follow along and write with me, you'll have your own content ready to be turned into a Kindle book! How cool is that???

Q: Who would want to read MY book?
A: Unless you've been locked in someone's basement for most of your life, you've made decisions, dealt with problems, and learned about different activities, subjects, etc.

Most of the time, people are searching for help on very common experiences. If you've been through those experiences, you can provide that help.

Even if you have no idea what you've learned, I can help you pull useful tips and advice from your actual experiences.

And if you HAVE been locked in someone's basement most of your life, PM me. We can work out a deal on writing your memoir instead!

Q: Why don't you talk about marketing?
A: I like some products that others have put out when it comes to Kindle marketing.

I'm not going to include their methods with one or two changes that I've made and call them my own!

The thing that I DON'T like about most Kindle marketer guides is that I think they really gloss over (and underestimate) the writing part.

They mostly talk about outsourcing, which is fine, but a lot of them don't give any direction on writing. They just say things like, "Oh, that part is easy."

But I have a lot of subscribers who have really struggled with the writing part, and putting out "just anything" might get you started, but actual good books can help get you visitors, subscribers, and reviews that you didn't write yourself for someone else to post.

So I do give you some ideas for quick and easy visitor-getting resources based on this type of book. But I don't get into big strategies. There are already good ones out there. I just wanted to help people with the writing aspect because I believe it has been neglected and I've come up with a pretty good method to make it easier.

Q: Why not just write a researched book and leave my story out of it?
A: You absolutely can. When I write for other people, I write mostly straight researched books.

But when you tell your story, you:
  • Help new audiences get to know you like people on your blogs/lists do
  • Get unique topic idea twists or angles that you might never have considered without experience
  • Establish yourself as someone who has been through the experience (this works whether you came out well or failed miserably)
  • Help your readers see that they are not alone
  • Can more quickly/easily/confidently write because you know what you're talking about and you don't put off writing until that almost impossible time where you think you know "enough" from research
  • Can give a perspective that experts and regular guides can't, which can in some cases help make you an "also purchased" for some big books
  • Can come up with more unique tips and advice that are less likely to create a ton of reviews that say things like, "There's nothing new here," "This is all just common sense," or "Even though this is free, you'll never get back the time that you spent reading this hack rehash version of much better books."
Note: I get bad reviews from time to time on everything, but it happens a lot more on researched books where I'm not writing based on what I learned through doing.

There is an art to telling your story in an interesting way where you then transition the focus onto the reader's situation. Most people tell boring or bitter stories and barely consider the readers at all. Read some personal story Kindle books, and you'll see what I mean. Unless you're famous or have a REALLY intriguing story (see "locked in a basement" above), your story is going to be more of a background and launching pad.

Q: Does it have to be based on a problem?
A: It really doesn't have to be.

I've written about some terribly personal things that I never would have under my own name. But I've also written about two hobbies of mine. My wife has written about some pop culture stuff.

So it's not all about problems. I tend to lean toward problems because for years, I've made sites and info-products based on searched problems.

I give two ongoing examples in the writing guide based on imaginary people. I tell you what they might say in different parts of their books.

One is a serious, life-changing problem. The other has to do with... cooking.

If you write about something private, and you want to protect your (or someone else's) privacy, you can use a pen name. I've found that writing under a pen name often makes for a better book. I'm less likely to worry about what others think. I'm more likely to be completely honest. That alone can make the book more useful to others.

Of course I love sales, but it really is nice to get a good review and realize that it's not someone I know. :P And when you DO help people, it can potentially help your sales, too. It's really win-win.
