A picture says a thousand words, the adage is oft-repeated.

It's true that pictures frequently say more than what can be contained by the English language. That's one reason social media is rife with photographs and images. We like to SEE.

So what happens when you add words to pictures? Something new. Words can highlight a facet of the image, convey a new thought or make a funny picture even funnier.

Whether the words are designed to instruct, inspire or entertain, when combined with a picture, something memorable can be created.

In the social media world, that something memorable is often liked, commented on, or shared by the community.

I've been a big fan of posting photos since I started using social media in 2007. However, I'm not a Photoshop expert by any stretch. In fact, I'm as amateur as they get.

But with the introduction of some great apps, I now find myself frequently sharing my thoughts and feelings with my followers by posting photos with text imposed upon them. In fact, the latest apps are so powerful that the resulting images look more professional than anything I could ever hope to create with Photoshop.

As it turns out, people enjoy the photos that I post. At least it seems they do as the photos receive plenty of engagement.

It was a Friday at Ken McArthur's Impact Event in Denver, Colorado in Fall 2014.

I was to speak on Saturday, but I had just gotten home after a 2-week run of events and speaking engagements in multiple cities. I hadn't had an opportunity to put together a presentation for the event attendees and I wasn't certain what direction I wanted to go.

I was sitting at lunch with several of the attendees when one of them asked me what I was going to speak on.

I honestly replied that I didn't know, and I asked those at the table what they would like to hear from me.

One of the attendees mentioned that she enjoyed the photoquotes that I posted on social media and asked whether I could share some of them.

I puzzled on it for a couple minutes and then it clicked in my mind.

There is a story behind each and every photoquote I post. Sometimes it is something I want to say about business. Other times it's something I want to say about life. And then there are the time when I am just being silly.

And while the photoquotes speak for themselves, I thought it would be interesting to present a collection of them and spend a minute or two elaborating on what I said and what I wanted people to understand.

I immediately got to work on creating a new presentation centered around these photoquotes and the story behind them. I was excited to share new material with this audience!

The presentation received fantastic accolades. And afterwards several of the attendees suggested that I take the material and turn it into a book.

While designed for digital reading, you may consider this is a coffee-table book of sorts.

Designed to pick up and casually read when you just want a quick thought or to go all the way through in one short sitting, the sixty photoquotes, and the stories behind them, contained within this book will instruct, inspire and entertain you.

All the photoquotes within were selected based on the interaction and engagement they received. I figure if my social media friends enjoyed them, you may as well.

for the holiday today, many kindle book sellers are giving some of their ebooks away for free, just do a search for a niche or subject you are interested in and add the word 'free' to the search, do this on amazon in the kindle store... then sort the results from 'price: low to high'

You could download the Kindle app for Android or iOS, once you login after you purchase which is now free, it will be pushed to your kindle app

you do not need a kindle tablet to download this ebook or any ebook from amazon! i am tired of repeating that! all you need is a free amazon account and the free amazon reader software... it is just an app! they have it for EVERY DEVICE KNOWN TO MAN! there is a kindle reader app for EVERYTHING! every cellphone, every tablet computer, every computer! EVERYTHING! it is available ALL OVER THE WORLD for FREE! this ebook is free for a limited time! so are many more on amazon if you know how to find them!!! wake up and try it, some devices already have the amazon app, or kindle reader pre-loaded when you bought the device! i have a tv that came with it pre-installed! yes a TV! all you need to do is link it to your amazon dot com account! do you know what EVERYTHING means?

i actually got a pm from a noob who said he did not have any devices, i asked him how he sent me the pm... long story short, he has a pc computer, laptop, tablet computer and cellphone... all devices that have free kindle readers!

for the totally brain dead, and you do not want to download any apps, to your computer or devices, or do not know how, lol... amazon offers you a free cloud reader, so the kindle books you buy, yes, even the free ones, the ebook is automatically transferred to your cloud reader account online, so you do not need to waste the little space to store the ebook on your harddrive and you then can read your kindle books anytime you are online! just by logging into your kindle cloud reader

amazon calls ebooks, kindle books, that is what confuses a lot of people, and it is shame people are too lazy to look up the info, kindle books are not available in pdf format, so you need the apps to read them... if you do download them, you can convert them with any pdf converter software to pdf or any format you prefer so you can read them on any device without the special apps

so in review, a kindle is the device amazon sells, it is just a special ebook reader they created, it is called a kindle, like crapple calls its cell phones, iphones, and tablet devices ipads, so amazon has its kindle! just a device name for its brand of ebook reader... amazon calls ebooks, kindle books! another example is itunes, itunes is an app you need to listen to music files from the itunes store, they are not in mp3 format, thus you need a special app to listen to them... there is NO difference, with kindle reader, the app used to read kindle books! kindle = device, kindle reader = app for people who do not have the device, now do you get it?
