(07-19-2013 05:44 AM)buckfern Wrote: This wants to update back to 3111 now. Do you have the same issue? This may be because at the time of sharing this release, 3.1.13 was BETA. Most users don't get offered beta releases unless they check the box in the settings, saying to include beta releases. Your settings, you probably don't have the beta versions box checked. So SENuke is looking up the latest final version and not the beta version... Since they don't match (yours is higher) it wants to to just download the latest final version. So go into settings/options and find the checkbox for allowing you to get the beta versions. I think you can also turn off the automatic check for updates? There is an option to show a link instead i think, or send you an email, so you still have alternate ways of knowing.. But just check the box, its the best way. The BETA RELEASES HAVE PROS AND CONS! Pro: As we know, SENuke changes the site listings. They remove x amount but yet add x more. So a full blast of SENuke is different slightly between versions. By opting to get BETA releases, you are using those "new" sites, that the normal users wont get added until days later when the beta becomes a final. By the time it gets to final, some of those sites are already dead because the beta users already bombed the crap out of them. Forcing some (who can't handle the load) to take measures; like change the captcha method, change (add/remove) fields to the signup form, or turn the form from 1 page to 2 page signup. It is easy to stop SENuke temporarily. SENuke is programmed basically hard coded for each step. Changing 1 variable can make it fail to register on that site. Thus SENuke fixes it by adding the changes to fix that same site, and it gets added back a few versions later.. Cons: A beta release means it isn't quite ready for human consumption. It may have bugs, something may be broke, they may have made a boo boo.. There are a % of users who run BETA so they can get a small population to test run it, before updating EVERYONE! Why? Well use these numbers for an example. They are not accurate to how many customers SENuke has, I don't think anyone really knows the total # of current paying customers! These are just made up numbers to get my point across... Say SEnuke has 10k members total. Say 300 of those (yes a low #, people don't like to be testers, they don't like that they may have bugs) are beta testers. They release a new version... If they didn't do a beta release, and there was a mistake, they would potentially get support tickets from 10k people (not everyone would submit a ticket, or even notice, but any of them could "potentially" submit a ticket. If they send it to 300 beta testers, potentially 300 tickets could be opened... So it is a LOT EASIER to manage a small group... They don't need 10k people telling them they fucked up.. 300 people could tell them the same thing :) Imaging knowing you have an error within minutes of your release (because you got 10 tickets immediately).. Then for the next few days, getting hundreds more.. Your like "I KNOW DUDE STOP TELLING ME! GO AWAY!!! AAHHHH"... Just because it's beta, doesn't mean it doesn't work or is broke.. It's just an early bird release, as a second layer, to catch any errors that MAY be there. I think, with SENuke because of the site lists, that it has more pros than cons. Who cares if there might be a bug.. If I find one version that does, I can go back to the final version, until its resolved. Im using sites days before most of the members :P |
