These days it seems as if every guru is putting out a book. Most are glorified sales letters trying to attract you into their mastermind or seduce you into buying their $1997 program. As a self-taught entrepreneur, I've bought a lot of these books hoping to get insight on how to grow my business. They promise to share a secret "formula" or "blueprint" on how to double my profits, skyrocket my business, and transform my life. Most don't deliver on that promise, so I read Ask with a healthy degree of skepticism.

But when I started reading, I was immediately drawn into Ryan's story. He doesn't sugarcoat his journey. He's up front about the fact that his success took a lot of hard work and dedication and he shares his failures as transparently as he does his wins. His focus and discipline is, frankly, a little intimidating. I actually found myself worrying that if I wasn't willing to dedicate six months of hyper focus to my business, I wouldn't be able to put his formula into action.

Then I read part II.

Part II lays out the Ask formula and then details the Survey Funnel Strategy step-by-step and here's where the magic happens. There are four pillars to the Survey Funnel Strategy -- the "Deep Dive" Survey, the "Micro-Committment Bucket" Survey, the "Do You Hate Me" Survey, and the "Pivot" survey. Levesque lays out each of these step-by-step as well as the email sequences you need to send to prepare your audiences for the surveys and follow up with them once they've given their answers.

I have already put pieces of the formula into practice (imperfectly) and already seen some awesome results:
-I sent out a Deep Dive Survey and found out that my avatar was facing a huge challenge that I was aware of. This challenge was keeping them from being ready for one of my primary products and was a huge reason why many of them hadn't bought yet. So, I am now in the process of creating a bridge product that directly addresses this challenge. I never would have known that they needed this new product if I hadn't asked them.

-I sent out a "Do You Hate Me" survey during my most recent launch. I got back over 50 responses and was able to make 2 more additional sales into my continuity program as a result. The entire process took me about an hour.

-I've been struggling with how to follow up with non-buyers in a way that is not spammy or annoying. After reading Ask, I am following the steps to create a "Pivot" survey including the exact email sequence outlined in the book.

-I am re-reading the landing page section and creating my first VSL following the script outline in the book.

It really helps to have a formula.

The one thing I wish the book had more of were actual examples of some of the emails. Levesque does include a few examples from some of his own and his clients' successful businesses, but I could use a few more examples from other businesses as well. The good news is that there is a member portal with additional resources and it seems to be a dynamic space where he is adding new resources periodically. I am hoping that he will post a few more examples there.

Although I am still working through the processes outlined in the book, I have already seen some results. Based on what I've seen so far, this is one of those books that I'll be pulling out whenever I am starting a new launch or funnel.

He is very knowledgeable with funnels and it may be a good book.

BUT don't get on his email list... He emails every single day, 7 days a week with useless crap and stupid stories... and I had to unsubscribed. To me that's totally burning out your list and he does it fast.

I gotta agree with Redman5: Good book, but being on his email list will FLOOD your inbox with messages from him. After about 10 days I unsubscribed, it was just too much (the majority of which were either meaningless stories or upsells). He definitely practices what he preaches in terms of staying in contact, but for me it was just too much.
