Not actually very surprising though. Trading profitably requires a lot of waiting..., waiting for lower risk/higher reward situations. In that spare time there is no reason why you can't run a profitable online business. No ideological conflicts at all. Online marketing is all risk/reward, just like trading. Only, smaller risks and higher potential reward because responses from unique groups of individuals are more predictable than market trading. You can get 10:1 return on risk (initial advertising costs) if you have a reasonable niche and product funnel. A CBOT pit trader that I've worked with for the last 15 years told me this: "There is no sense of altruism in the markets. It is always about identifying advantage, then taking advantage. This means that you have to understand this order, work within its confines, or be ravaged by it." Makes complete sense, in both trading AND marketing....
