(09-12-2014 04:33 PM)octane Wrote:  Alright, here's my review:

First of all, this will take some cash to setup (if you do it exactly the way the guide says - at least $30, possibly more depending on who you host with/buy domains through). It will also take a bit of time to figure everything out for those of you who have never used OpenVBX before (though he does include videos, he took a short cut and included videos that were part of another product he did before, so it gets a little confusing, OpenVBX's installation docs will be better for most people).

The basic premise is this:

1. Find a business with poor reviews, or few reviews.
2. Sell that business a "hotline" (which is a twilio number ported to an OpenVBX voicemail box) where people can leave a positive or negative review. Pricepoints in the video are $37/mo for "non-managed" and $97/mo for "managed" (though he never discusses what you actually manage?)
3. ? Honestly I don't see how this would be useful. The author suggests these recorded testimonials will hold more weight than written reviews - but never tells you how to get the recordings infront of other potential customers - nor how to get current customers to actually leave a review ...

-------------

My bottom line, the idea is a good building block. The way I'd twist it, or at least I should say, what I would add to this product if it were mine is this:

Setup and sell a hotline to a business(es) and then when the reviews start coming in (if they ever even do ...) I'd take the recordings, and make them into a YouTube video and transcribe some words on the video screen re-enforcing how life-changing and truly epic said business is. Rank the videos, repeat.

It seems like a lot of work for little reward. Honestly, if you could deliver on what I just laid out above, I'd charge an upfront setup fee (probably somewhere around $197-$297) (of course, tell them it's worth $997, and they're getting a killer discount because you love them so much, and you're super awesome) and then at least $67-$97/mo for maintenance and the videos. Even 10 clients with that method would bring in about $2k up front ($197 setup fee) and another $1k/mo ($97/mo maintenance fee) - nothing great, but to some, could be life changing.

---------

Final grade of this WSO: C- Good in theory, poor execution, even worse instruction. Save your time unless you're really struggling offline.
thanks Octane....I left my review of this here...

Some things to add to your review....when you set up the vbx the way he states the software will transcribe the voice mail pretty accurately for 5 cents a piece. Then in the video he describes setting up a review hub where you can add the transcription and assign a star rating with a rich snippets plugin.

This is done manually so you would have to choose your clients wisely. I busy restaurant could easily push through dozens of reviews a day which could quickly push your costs and or time commitments way up.

Instead of press one for negative or positive I would make the first voice mail have the user press 1-5 as a star rating and then assign 1,2 or 3 to the negative voice mail response and 4,5 to the positive response...then I would add a voice mail after the review that said something like "Thank You for your review press 1 if we have your permission to use your review online and in other marketing materials....press 2 to not give us permission..."

If you chose clients who had a few high ticket clients a month this could be a viable business model imho....and if you could automate the populating of the voicemail and star rating onto a review hub or page it could be very lucrative...

Of course you'd still have to do SEO on the hub and I don;t think google indexes for audio testimonials like they would for video....
