I've done many mass mailings in my past life.

Here's my quick review:

In this 96 page .pdf Mark covers the entire process he's used and tested in depth.
Includes product selection, the market, outsourcing, licensing, mailing lists, sales letters, testing,
call centers, order taking, credit card processing and even talks about incorporation and if you need to
do it or not.

Anyone interested in resurrecting this dinosaur could probably do very well, as competition has
virtually dried up.

My advice here is NOT to incorporate unless you are crazy enough to take on business partners to do this.
You get every tax benefit you need as a home business as a sole proprietor.

In the nineties is also when I did the highest volume of mailings. I stopped in 2004.
For lead generation it used to be the highest % of response besides boiler room cold calls,
which I also used to do.
I personally think it would work again. Nobody gets mail anymore.

Direct mail works better than ever, although you do need to track more carefully since rates are up, but post cards are cheap.

Not sure how this rumor got started that direct mail isn't working. Probably internet gurus and their idiot followers parroting the same nonsense over and over.

The best advice I can give anyone is to ignore the gurus and learn from PROVEN copywriters and direct marketers, especially the old masters. Everything you need is in the copywriting section.
