here is a black hat tip,
some of these password protected pdf's do not actually have a preset password, sometimes they only require a word that has 6 or 8 letters, any word... it will tell you the password failed sometimes, but then all of a sudden your pdf will open a few seconds later depending on your computer
second, and my favorite, get a program called pageplus, version 4x or better, i have version 4x, it will open most password protected pdf's AUTOMATICALLY! like magic, no need to enter any password, etc... then you can publish it as a pdf again, then you can password protect if you want with any password YOU want under the security settings, you can often edit the original pdf too, add your own material, images, text, etc
