Just went through the course...a little dated...2011 but the basic premise still is applicable...essentially they are saying to get past the gatekeepers go to businesses you already use and say you'd like to leave a positive video testimonial of their product or service but need the owners permission and where he/she would like you to post it.

This in theory (and I would likely agree) gets you past the gatekeeper straight to the owner.

Then you say to the owner I'd like to leave it on the business's google+ page to give them maximum exposure and benefit in google but your google+/places/local (whatever name of the day Google is calling it) listing has not been claimed and/or optimized but for $497 we can take care of that for you...

He then goes on to describe the various ways you can do this, in person, email etc...and then how to upsell them with your other services...
