yeah, you're right
that money back guarantee from direct response marketers like this one is always hiding something in the back

but your "27 essential copy cosmetic" share gave me the idea of capturing the doodles he is using, turning them into SVG format then you can use them anywhere you like plus now you will know where they are used since they were tested

Wow Layna, Thanks again for detailed explanation and resources on Copy Doodles, specially doodle as a form of statement in marketing. Well sketches and any form of doodle do draw a kind of nostalgia when used correctly and i assume it does lead to better conversion. Well we do keep our eyes glued whenever we see the cartoon of yesteryear for example Tom and Jerry Show, Sinchan to name a few!

@ACHROFREJ: While I didn't mean to infer that Mike Capuzzi or his company would pull a fast one like that, I think we both agree that some direct response marketers can take advantage of customers with their "liberal" refund policies. Infomercials, in particular, come to mind when I think about it.

Some marketers will say whatever sounds good to a potential customer to get the sale. The "If you don't like it, return it within X-days for a full and unquestioned refund" is easier said than done when you can't get them to answer the customer support line. Or you learn that you'll pay a shipping and handling return charge, a restocking fee or some other trumped-up charge --- all designed to discourage seeking a refund.

I like your idea about grabbing doodle images in a scan and turning them into SVG files. That's the good thing about most scribble (or doodle) images --- they're so simple and generic that it's easy to grab them from other marketers and use them for your own pieces. Just be sure they are completely generic, that there are no copyright markings on them or that the images cannot easily be associated with a company's trademark or brand or you could end up defending yourself in a suit for copyright or trademark infringement.

@discomix: Yep --- no matter the advances in technology and evolution of man, the old-school methods (particularly in marketing copy) tug at the customer's heart-strings and get them to do what you're asking because those methods bring us back to a simpler (and for some, better) place-in-time. COPYWRITING AND MARKETING
DOODLE GRAPHICS TO MAKE YOUR
SALES LETTERS SIZZLE!

The crudely-made old-school direct mail sales page above is something I put together in Microsoft Word, using one of the doodle text generators I link you to in this post.

I did that to show you how easy it can be to use these online doodle tools and doodle images from graphics sites to make your sales copy stand out over the standard (and boring!) black-and-white.

Again, this was a quick hack to illustrate my point. It's NOT an attempt at copywriting --- just something pulled together to show how these graphics elements can come together to make a decent-looking sales page.

To my knowledge, there is no product called Low-Content Lotto. I came up with that as a fake-name product for the sales page.

So, with all that out of the way, here are some doodle tools you can put in your marketing arsenal.

By the way, in the image above, the bold red text (THIS IS A LIMITED TIME OFFER) comes from Fontspace. I link you to that site and others like it for creating custom doodle images and text.

Below is a peek at the user interface on Fontspace:

As you can see in the text input field, I typed in: This is a limited time offer and the app generated multiple instances of this phrase using different font styles. I could manipulate the results by using the slider bar in the middle of the page to make the text larger or smaller; click on the top colored square to change the color of the text and the bottom colored square to change the color of the background of the text and click the symbol to the right to go back to the default settings (what the screen looked like before I did any customizations).

All that's left to do then is to browse the results and select one or more to download.

The buttons to the right under Personal Use Free include:

Photo image = Save your image to your computer.
Plus symbol = Add the image to the collection (if you are saving multiple images)
Cloud and arrow = Download the font style to your computer

This site is free to use and, as you can see in my "sales page" above, it can save you time and money in adding doodles to your sales messages.

As for the rest of the graphics in my letter, I grabbed the reading person image from the Open Doodles Generator website (again, that link is included in the DOODLES RESOURCES found near the end of the post). The red arrow image was imported from an online search done directly within MS Word.

I even put the phrase: "But Wait...!!! There's More!" into Fontspace. It's a bit hard to see because the font I selected has no fill and the background is transparent but... well, look:

I can click the blue-and-pink COPY IMAGE TO CLIPBOARD button to save it in my computer's memory then PASTE it into a document or the gray SAVE IMAGE button to save it as a file.

This site is free to use and, as you can see in my "sales page" example above, it can save you time and money in adding doodles to your sales messages.

As for the rest of the graphics in my letter, I grabbed the reading person icon and that red arrow from directly within MS Word.

But for starters, grab a few doodle graphics packs...
