[GET] MAKE YOUR OWN COMICS
MAKE YOUR OWN COMICS
Comics and Cartoons: The Unique
Low-Content Solution!

Today, I'm sharing a simple little site I landed on by accident. I was actually looking for a few of the missing downloads at Writecome.com to update/complete the recent site rip I shared but somehow, I ended up playing around on a site that makes comic strip creations, instead.

At the very top of the site, you'll see text links to these two resources:

* 10 Tips for Writing Good Comics
* Writing Funny Comics

I'm sure that any information you need to make using the site easier can be found there. But the site is pretty easy to use on its own.

FUN AND EASY COMIC STRIPS!

You get a workspace where you can create and save a series of scenes. These individual scenes become your completed comic strip.

You get graphic images of alien creatures, animals, people, and props to work with.

Click on images to bring them into the "window" workspace. Then use your cursor to slide them to wherever you want them in the scene.

You get backgrounds to add scenic flair to your comics. Click a background and violĂ  --- it fills the workspace. Settings include everything from the beach to a livingroom; a kitchen to a space shuttle launch and all things in between.

Use speech bubbles to add dialogue that gives voice to your comic characters.

Type into the text bar and click "Submit Word" to put words in your character's mouths. To edit, simply make changes inside the text box and click the submit button as often as you need to. The speech bubble gets updated automatically.

Share your comics with family, friends, on social media or with your customers in emails, in products and more!

Comics and cartoons might just be the unique, low-content solution you need to add fun and excitement to your blog and info product creation projects. They take a little more "thought" to produce but are uniquely yours.

I had fun using this little application to quickly create the image shown in the header of this post.

That said, though, here are some of the "issues" I had...

HITS AND MISSES

- I found the graphics to be quite limited and I don't see a way to import your own. It may be possible but that was not immediately evident to me. Perhaps checking out the "10 Tips" article will make it all clear but (if you can't import) I can see the limitation of the included graphics as a real deal-breaker.

- I didn't see a registration link; it appears you can make comics on the fly but I'm not sure where you are saving your work to ... or what happens to it once you leave the site. Again, refer to any written material for guidance.

- You can't resize anything. I spent 5 minutes trying to make the people images larger and couldn't. I tried the same with the speech bubble, only to learn that it accommodates the text you type inside of the space. So by typing into the text bar and clicking the "Submit word" button, the text bubble expands accordingly.

- I didn't see a way to delete any one element from the workspace (ex: background) if you should change your mind. I simply choose another one of the same category and that overrode the one I choose to replace.

- I found the backgrounds to be distracting. Since the people were small, they tend to get "swallowed up" by those very busy backgrounds. For my scene, had to start all over and left the background empty. I wanted to choose a colored background but didn't have time to investigate how to do that.

- I am not sure how you export the comics. Maybe that "10 Tips" link tells you how.

- The site isn't without its glitches. I had to start over more than once and the last time, the browser returned a blank page. So be sure to name and save the panels you create or you could lose them.

CLEVER LOW-CONTENT THAT IS
UNIQUELY YOURS!

SEAN D'SOUZA

One marketer who uses comics/cartoons effectively in his product marketing is Sean D'Souza. If you've ever read his sales pages or seen any of his products, you can see what I mean.

BRAD GOSSE

Another marketer is Brad Gosse - a humorist/author and very talented artist who actually sells his cartoon images.

And just for reading all this, I'll share Gosse's CHRONIC MARKETER with you.

CHRONIC MARKETER: CONFESSIONS OF A HALF-BAKED
(BUT HIGHLY-PAID) INTERNET MARKETER

.

But do an image search for Brad Gosse and you may be able to find some of his marketing materials (from back-in-the-day) to see how he uses his own cartoon graphics to effectively market his products.

Comics and cartoons can be used in your articles, blog posts, electronic and print newsletters, product pages, website content and, of course, as low-content digital and printed creations. For example, you can make a children's coloring book with a series of simple cartoons that, when read, tells a complete story. Not only does it engage the reader (coloring the images) but entertains them (by telling a story).

DIVE IN AND PLAY AROUND!

The best way to get started with this site is to just jump in and experiment.

Click "Finished" to clear the workspace and start a new scene. But don't forget to give each picture a name (Pic Name:) because they are saved that way and I think you can call them back up to populate the different cells or panes of the comic or cartoon strip.

At any rate, this was fun and relaxing ... and a very unique way to add fresh content to your arsenal. And I'm talking about content that can be considered low (in terms of the time it takes to create it) that can add tremendous value to your publishing projects because you can use comics to do everything from touting the benefits of your product to making a political (or other newsworthy) statement to simplifying a process (infographic).

Think about all the fun and exciting ways you can incorporate comics/cartoons in your low-content publishing projects!

If you find this comic strip creator to be too limited, do a web search for one that allows you to import your own black-and-white or grayscale images and easily export them to your computer.

RE: [GET] MAKE YOUR OWN COMICS
Thank you all for posting to the thread. Enjoy the share.

@actionguy: Yes, I found the limited graphics and seemingly no way to add one's own to be a deal-breaker for me. But, as I mentioned, you can search for comic strip maker apps that allow importing and customizing graphics. I posted this site as an example of what is possible for creating unique low-content that doesn't have to involve a lot of writing. There are other such sites; probably with far more (and better) features.

It would have taken me 5 minutes to create the little cartoon I posted in my share, if I were already familiar with the comic maker app. It ended up taking nearly 30 minutes with stops-and-starts, trying to find out how to do what I needed and (once more) creating something from such a limited pool of assets.

But it's fairly easy to find something bigger and better. Try a search in duckduckgo.com or google.com with these keywords, just for starters:

free online comic strip maker import graphics

You can also search:

free cartoon app

You can then modify the keywords to your liking, based on the results returned.

Here are a few sites from the first set of search keywords above. Visit the sites and bookmark those with the features you need that are free or at a price you can't-say-no to.

Very nice share Layna!

Been over in Louisiana since Sunday and this is the very first link that I click on when I come back.

Might try and use this for some political cartoons I have in mind.

Thanks for your work on this share!

@12days: How was the weather "back home"? I talk to my sister (who is still there, in a suburb of New Orleans) at least once a day and most often when I ask about the weather, it's raining and muggy.

Thanks for visiting my shares.

Hi Layna!

The wife and I were in Kinder belatedly celebrating our 50th (now 51st) anniversary by throwing away money!

It did seem to rain everyday in the afternoons, but for the most part very hot (90's +) and humid.

After having lived for 2 months in New Orleans back in the 60's this weather was excuse the pun, nothing to write home about!

Other than being a few dollars lighter, I am now back at home in the same ole grind.

Hope your having plenty of fun!

RE: [GET] MAKE YOUR OWN COMICS
Thanks for the weather update. Congratulations on your 51st! That's a major accomplishment.

My B'day is coming up and I know my sister is up to something.

I know I shouldn't rush time but I can't wait for the calendar pages to flip to autumn for the cooler weather, the most festive holidays of the year and (my favorite) the 2021 NFL season to begin.

Thanks
