Here are some of our preferred sources for free and paid images online. Please note that most free image sources require attribution: this means that in your book credits you should refer to the author which created the downloaded image.

Fotopedia has a built in creative commons search engine which spans several image websites. This site stands out with the quality of the images you can find here. Simply make sure to mention the author in your book credits/acknowledgements if you choose to use an image from Fotopedia creative commons.

Icon Finder is a great source for free icons. Select the “Allowed For Commercial Use No Link Required” option when searching for an image to find images which don’t require attribution.

Photo Express has a great collection of 100% free stock photography images. The only drawback is that you need to register (registration is free) and you can only download one image per day. Some images may require attribution.

Flickr is a large amateur photography site.

Sigh. The link to register doesn't work... Just throws up 404 - Page Not Found error.
