And fattening the pockets of the gurus'. Period. Next - they want you to think it is really tough so not only will you buy their stuff, but so that you will think that they are really smart, and you will respect them because they are so successful. But that is like respecting a file clerk in the doctors' office because she (or he) does his job. I didn't say does his (or her) job really well, over and above - just does his job. Because that is what the gurus are doing - just doing their job, doing the steps that work the same for everyone, step by step the way that works. They all do it. I do it. You can do it. And its not that complicated. Now, granted, you need to know some basic things. You need to understand some basic concepts. It is like driving a car. It only takes a few days to become pretty proficient at driving a car. Sure, you could take lessons and become race car driver. But to just drive the car - and drive it well - most people only need a few days. But - you have to know some basic concepts, like where the gas pedal is, where the brake is, how to work the clutch, if you have a manual transmission. And it is the same way with building an online business. You need to have something to sell. You need to have a site to sell it on. You need to have a way to get people who don't buy to get on your list (like using a squeeze page). You need to get people to your site (we call it driving traffic, personally I get almost all of my traffic from article marketing). Those are the basics. And that is all you need. You don't need to know html, special scripting, redirecting, facebook, twitter, social networking, social linking, powerlinking, reverse linking, reciprocal linking, blogging, begging, spamming, surfing, autosurfing, automatic traffic, free traffic, superduperoverthetoptraffic and on and on. You don't need all that stuff. That is all extra stuff (some of which you never need). But if you use any of that - it has to go into your business AFTER the foundation - which is the stuff I mentioned a few sentences ago, like something to sell and a site to sell it on. But if you are building your business by starting with blogs and facebooks and squidoo pages, instead of something to sell and a site to sell it on - you have the cart before the horse. You are feeding your guests salad dressing without lettuce and tomatoes. You are trying to make a fancy hamburger with all the fixings - but no meat. Get the point? You have to have the foundation first. Back to the gurus - they are selling you the salad dressing and the fixings - with no lettuce or meat to put it on. Look, friend, go back to the foundation. Build your foundation strong, then you can do addons and plugins and downsells. But you have to build your foundation first. So now maybe you are thinking, well, where do I get the foundation? And I have a few things to say about it. I have hunted for a foundation for over 3 years (I mean info on how to create a foundation). And I haven't found one. In my own case, I had to figure it out. I copied alot of other people, did testing and tracking and tweaking to see if what they were doing was working or not. And alot of what other people were doing plain old doesn't work. They just think it does, because everyone else does it, so they think it must work. Then I started putting all the pieces together. And once I started getting the pieces together and started making real sales (I got to over $15k per month in sales after one year with this business), people who were buying my products were asking me, how did you do it.
