First, the BAD NEWS...

Everybody loved zippyshare. Well, that site officially shut down at the end of April 2023.

So, zippyshare (as we know it) is gone forever.

But dry your weeping eyes. Here's the GOOD NEWS...

There is a new version of the file share site, called Zippyshare.pro!

I just happened upon it earlier today, while I was browsing over at Soft Archive.

When I first came across the link, I ignored it, thinking it would go to a defunct web page saying Zippyshare is gone. But my curiosity got the better of me, so I clicked it.

And it worked!

So now I'm back to tell you --- if you haven't seen this version of zippyshare before, you're in for a treat!

There is an expiration feature built right into the user interface. When you click the drop-down tab, you have the option of having your link:

- Remain active for a single day
- Remain active for 7 days
- Remain active for 31 days
- Never expire!

But, to be sure it worked, I uploaded a few files I wanted to share into an archive and transferred the files to Zippyshare Pro.

I named the file "Layna's Lagniappe - Thanks for Reading My Post Files" and set it to expire in just 7 days from the date of this post.

NOTE: My apologies for removing the Motivation Equals Destination audiobook file. Zippyshare Pro simply took too long to process it. If you are interested in downloading it, I will drop a link to it on the Soft Archive site further below.

TO USE THE SITE

The user interface is pretty intuitive. But if you need guidance, here's what to do:

STEP 1: Decide how long you want your link to last. The options are 1 day, 7 days, 31 days or never expire. Click the little down-pointing arrow and select the timeframe you prefer.

STEP 2: Upload your file(s). You can drag-n-drop files directly from your desktop or browse for them. Click the BROWSE text link to navigate to the location of the files saved to your computer. Remember, for large-sized archives (ex: rar and zip files) you will need to pull out the individual file parts because this app doesn't seem equipped to handle a heavy load.

STEP 3: Start the upload. This could last anywhere from a few seconds for small files to a long time for larger files. Just be patient.

When the files have uploaded to their server, you will get one or more results at the bottom of the screen (see image below). Your options for each file will be to copy (green bar) or view (blue bar).

STEP 4: Copy each link by clicking the green bar and paste that link into your post on BBHF. It may be useful, in your post, to remind people if the link expires shortly.

STEP 5: SPECIAL NOTE: If a file is taking too long to upload or you change your mind and want to stop the process, there is a tiny text link in the gray bar where the percentage complete for your upload shows. It reads: Tap to cancel. It is just beside a black orb. Click that link to abort the upload.

DOWNLOADING FROM ZIPPYSHARE PRO

Once you put the download link in your browser, wait a few seconds (the timer will show on the site) before attempting to do anything. The app is generating the link for the file, so don't interrupt the process.

The total file size of my upload was only 247.37 and I found the upload process to be quite sluggish; but my computer has been put through a lot so maybe it's not the fault of Zippyshare Pro. I'm hoping that heavy traffic from a black-hat site to this link won't send Zippyshare Pro into a flaming downward spiral. I'm sitting here staring at the upload and it's only at 10 percent. That's crazy because this isn't an overly sizeable file.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE

I took the individual files out of the archived folder and uploaded them individually. That seemed to do the trick.

I also stopped the Motivation Equals Destination audiobook I wanted to share. Zippyshare Pro seemed to stagnate at only 21 percent uploaded, so I gave up in frustration!

MY SUGGESTION: If you decide to use this app, reserve it for small sized files only. Things like ebooks, graphics and small courses. When uploading small courses, use the individual file parts (ex: filename.com/course-title.part01.zip, etc.)

I'm hoping YOU can give it a try and report back your experiences.

Layna, thank you for sharing this info! Zippyshare, as we knew it, was probably the most popular file sharing platform here on BBHF for a very long time.

My only regret is that I didn't see this thread sooner... before the expiration of your 7-day link!
