When you're using one of those softwares - or one of those services - you don't own your content. Your content resides on that company's server, which has the SSL. (Because ALL content in a tab must have SLL, or Facebook won't show it.)

So you're really at the mercy of the service. If they go out of business or stop working - as many have - you lose your tabbed content. If they decide to start charging for access for you to use them, or raise their prices - as many do - you have to pay or lose your tabbed content. If they put limits on how many Fans your page has - as many do - you have to pay more once you reach that limit, or you lose your tabbed content. By doing it yourself, you're in control.

Also, you don't have to rely on the templates some of those services limit you to. When you do it yourself, you can create anything you want using your WordPress.

The other benefit is that you don't need any software at all - just WordPress!
