Here are some reason you see a lot of open content. This is just my opinion and one I've had for a very long time. I'm sure plenty of business owners feel the same.

I could care less if people swipe my products and here's why.

1. Many times they are not my target market to begin with. I'm looking for people who have no problem paying for what I'm giving them. I'd rather spend time on producing quality products and services than being paranoid about people swiping my products. That is a fear based mentality. F*** that mentality.

2. If someone can use the products to enrich their lives and cannot afford it - than more power to them! I hope it does help them and in the long run I'm sure the goodwill will come back to me ten fold. I truly like to see people succeed and I know what it's like to be in that position.

3. Quality products get talked about and spread around and word of mouth advertising is worth more than any paid promotion you could ever buy. I 1000% support the blackhat scene in general and not to make money of it, I know it helps people weed through the bullshit.

BTW - Microsoft is one of the most paranoid companies out there. Look at the absolutely ridiculous amount of money they spend on trying to protect their software and squeeze as much d*** money out of peoples wallets. And to this day you can get any micrososoft product you want in a million differnt places no matter what kind of security and protection they use. It's a stupid game and a waste of money. They should focus on creating quality products instead of this nonsense. Corporate greed at it's finest. Same with the music and film industry.
