I tested this. It relies on spam emailing using GMail or somesuch to drive traffic to a lead capture page, and then using captured emails in a sales funnel (not the spam emails)

In my case I used free bulk mailing software and connected it to Google SMTP servers. I used this free bulk email software and email verifier:

Long story short: I set up a niche website with some nice giveaways and a signup form. It was OK, nothing special. I scraped 100s of emails from Twitter and LinkedIn using the tools he recommends and verified them using the verifier software. I used the giveaway product copy in the bulk email to encourage people to click through. Nothing special, but not bad.

After warming up the SMTP servers, in the end I sent around 1000 emails.

I got two clicks.

CONCLUSION: spam email didn't drive any buyer traffic.

(I also promoted the site in FB groups and got way more engagement.)

Perhaps the copy was worse than I thought, the scraped emails weren't as niche as I thought, or the emails went into the spam folder. Anyway - not likely to continue this experiment with spam emails since it has too many uncontrollable variables.
