Press releases are not easy to get printed or aired.

My business partner handles the movie and TV side of our business. Professional press agents from major studios really work her to gt us to print their press releases on our website. She has interviewed some major stars and directors.
So have I.
AND
As the owner of a small record label I can tell you that it is impossible to get press releases for something that is not of a major interest on the air.

You have to be a big company or a big name to get a press release noticed.
MY TINY WEBSITE GETS 4 OR 5 PRESS RELEASES EVERYDAY.
ALL RADIO AND TV STATIONS GET AN AVALANCHE OF PRESS RELEASES EVERY DAY

One thing you can do is tie your press release to a local charity event. That might get you a mention. If a band is playing an event I will setup it that 10% of the door will be given to the homeless shelter. The local paper and radio stations have a local events section where it will be announced.

Don't send an email attachment, they usually won't open them.
Include art that you have print rights to.
Fax if you can.
Don't expect a response.
You can get the latest radio station contact information all over the internet for free.
