For example, you can't enter these promotional giveaways IF:

* You are under the age of 18 (unless the promotion is specifically targeted to children)
* You are NOT a resident of the United States of America (non-residents are ineligible to enter or win)
* You don't read and follow instructions
* You don't use the entry materials stated in the rules
* You don't want to hand-print the same information (ex: your full name, address and other entry requirements found in the rules) over and over; as many times as you're allowed to enter for each separate giveaway you choose
* You don't mail your entry (or entries) in time to beat the deadline date

But more than this, if you're looking for a SURE THING, then it is best that you find another hobby --- entering sweepstakes is NOT for you.

Real "sweepers" do it for the fun and relaxation it brings and while they DO dream of winning, they realize that this is a game of chance and since winners are randomly drawn, it's very much a numbers game. When you consider that the competition is fierce, it's enough to make you run for the hills but these prizes are awarded, so your chances are as good as anyone else's so long as you follow the rules and meet the qualifications.

IMPORTANT NOTE 1: Sweepstakes have deadlines you need to observe before entering. Otherwise, you could be wasting postage if you enter for a giveaway that is soon to (or has already) expired. So read and understand before you even put pen to paper!

IMPORTANT NOTE 2: I have won hundreds of these prizes many years ago. Not so much now, but I also don't enter nearly as often as I used to. But I say all this to assure you, this is a legitimate method for getting free stuff --- however, it's based on chance. If you feel lucky, give it a try. LOCAL AND REGIONAL SWEEPSTAKES: It is much easier to win prizes in local and regional sweepstakes giveaways because the competition is smaller. Only the people in a local or regional viewing area will see the promotion and qualify to enter (most are restricted to local residents). So, you narrow the odds considerably by entering. And if the rules allow you to enter more than once, you should do so. Below are ways to use the search engine to find local and regional sweepstakes you can participate it. Always be sure to read and understand the rules before you enter to ensure that you qualify and are entering before the deadline.

As an example of how easy it is to find local, regional or national sweepstakes to enter (thanks to the internet), let's take a closer look at the last set of keywords in the MAGIC BUTTON above...

In this image, I used a manufacturer's name (Coca-Cola) along with the keyword: sweepstakes and a future date (August 2023). I chose August because we are currently in the latter half of June 2023 as I write this. Sweepstakes have start and end dates you must observe or your entry will not count. Knowing that I need a few weeks to a month or two to enter a sweepstakes, I decided to look for sweepstakes that end or close in August. So when searching for opportunities to enter, always give yourself several weeks to several months from the current month to find promotions that have ample time for you to prepare and mail your entries. If you enter online or via text, then you won't need as much time.

A TRIBUTE TO HELEN (AKA "HELENE") HADSELL --- THE CONTEST QUEEN: Helen Hadsell (June 1, 1924 - October 30, 2010) was widely known as the "contest queen." She entered and won --- literally --- every sweepstakes she entered. She raked in thousands of prizes --- including a home! You can read more about her at the Wikipedia link below and watch a few of her Youtube videos. This "fabulous freebies" share is my tribute to this inspiring lady. Helen is no longer with us but she enjoyed her life while on earth, thanks --- in part --- to her belief and practice in manifesting what she wanted. It was easier for her to "attract" what she wanted because, through her "sweeping" hobby, she was able to put action (entering sweepstakes) behind it to achieve her goals. Rest in peace, Helen.

Here are 2 caveats to keep in mind as you look through these fun freebies...

#1 - Be mindful of what you sign up for, especially online. In some (but not all) cases, opting in to an offer could land you on to someone's mailing list. If you're like most people, you dread opening your email to a thousand messages (many from the same sender) for stuff you're not interested in. This could happen to you --- unless you carefully read any small print and fully understand what you are okaying to.

#2 - There used to be this fear that entering to win contests and sweepstakes prizes (online or by mail or in supermarkets, etc.) would put you on a mailing list. I personally have entered national giveaways (and have won my share of wonderful prizes!) but never was I contacted or subjected to unwanted emails from those sponsors. Of course, they had to contact me initially to inform me that I was the potential winner and to confirm with me that I actually qualify to win the prize. The sponsor may contact you multiple times if your big prize win involves a large sum of cash, a car, travel or expensive merchandise. Otherwise, you will receive a letter in the postal mail or an email or text message --- however it states in the entry rules that winners will be contacted). But you don't need to worry about being bombarded by marketing messages. While I can't guarantee that won't happen (each company is different in the way they handle their contact lists), I can't assure you that I have not had that experience in my many years of entering and winning sweepstakes.

I lastly want to remind you: Please do your own due diligence. Some of the books shared in this post will be dated. The information in them was relevant at the time the book first came out but may be defunct at this time. But rest assured that sweepstakes has not changed much over the decades. Only the times have changed and you're very lucky because when you enter electronically (versus snail mail), you save time, money (in postage stamps, envelopes, etc.) and can enter a whole lot more giveaways by just going online or using your smart phone.

@12days: It was taking me so long to finish, I had to do it in sections --- assigning one section a day to finish! I actually thought it WOULD be preseason before it was done but I decided "This has to end at some point." I was beginning to see it in my sleep!
