Here's another great site I am having a fun time with. It's Writer's Digest's Writing Prompts. There is a lot of useful information there for writers, but the prompts can help you find your way out of writer's block and get you up-and-going again fast!

I picked the prompt that reads:

LEFT TURN

My assignment is to complete the following sentence and write a scene or story that begins with it:

“It’s strange to think that I never would have known about ____________ if I hadn’t taken that left turn.”

Boy-oh-boy, can I have fun with this!

For example, here are just a few ways to fill in that blank and start a story that will keep 'em reading till the very end ...

* ... my new husband's secret wife
* ... the infant abandoned at the scene of an accident
* ... the scary old house that haunts me in my dreams
* ... my long-lost Dad
* ... the people who stole all my Christmas yard ornaments
* ... the scared teen who had just given birth in the abandoned church alleyway
* ... the terrified woman who escaped a violent home invasion

It could be just about anything ... funny, sad, mysterious, erotic, scary ... but then, you have to write a scene with it that starts your story.

I had so much fun, I almost wrote an entire story!

I haven't decided if I want to finish it but I had a grand ole time writing it.

At this site, you will find a lot of different prompts to get YOUR creative juices flowing, so if one doesn't "do it" for you, there is sure to be one or more that will.

Give it a try and you'll never have to stare at a blank page (or computer screen) again! If nothing else, this site will keep your brain cells active.

You will find plenty of additional resources, writing competitions and events you can attend to improve your skill-set and meet new friends, too, if that's your thing.
