I wanted to show you a sneaky way I search for downloads of stuff I want when I'm too lazy to do research. So, looking for an example product to use, I came across some software titles from Kvisoft.

Kvisoft has nice software.

Read about it on this page, where you can download 30-day trial versions of their titles ... some are absolutely free.

You'll find really useful software for all kinds of applications (for PC and Mac users). For example:

*** PDF makers
*** phone and computer data recovery tools
*** Flash slideshow creators
*** video converters
*** photo gallery creators
*** software to split, merge and change PDFs into images

And that's only some of what's available. There's something there for everyone!

But now, here's the best part ...

I'll show you how to do a quick search in Google to get the download links to lots of stuff you can download ... just like the sites I talk about in How to Find Stuff.

I simply go to Google and then search for what I want via File Pursuit. If you've followed some of my threads on my How to Find Stuff shares, you know I focused on File Pursuit in How to Find Stuff 2.

When looking for something to download, it helps to have a general idea of what you want. A PDF creator ... a slideshow creator ... for example. If you put in a brand name (like I did in my example) it could help.

Don't go looking for internet marketing type products; especially those that have recently launched. Look for things like software, utilities, and other stuff you can find on open directories and file share sites to get the best results. You can try looking for these types of things too but I've had more luck with software:

*** Wordpress Themes
*** Graphics and Photoshop Actions
*** e-Books (be general - ask for "self publishing" instead of "Kindle")

Here's what to do:

1. Go to Google (https://google.com)

2. In the search bar, type something like this:

filepursuit.com Kvisoft software

Just so you know, there is a space between the filepursuit website name and the thing I'm searching for.

3. Hit the "Enter" button on your keyboard ... [then prepared to be amazed.

4. Read the returned results very carefully. You're looking for sites that are linked to filepursuit.com so that website should show up in the results. There should also be some returns showing the product/software you're looking for.

5. Keep a second window open on your computer so you can cross-reference the name and version of anything in the returns, do a little quick due diligence, and then decide if it's something you want.

6. Download, download, download. But don't install or use anything until you've run it past Virus Total (virustotal.com) or your computer's anti-virus program.

Take a look at the results from my example search:

Notice how my keywords are crossed out ... Google's way of saying they do not appear in the returned results. But you can plainly see by the returns, Kvisoft products are in those download links.

So, filepursuit.com will literally grab the download links you're looking for and deliver them to you. All you've got to do is look the links over, be sure it's something you want, and then download.

In my How to Find Stuff shares, I talk more about using your anti-virus programs both to protect your computer as well as to scan files that may be too large for Virus Total, plus other precautions.

You'll need a lot of space on your computer for all this stuff. I recommend an external hard drive. Again, I talk about all this in How to Find Stuff Using Filechef and How to Find Stuff 2. You can get those here:

Here's what you'll see when you get to the File Pursuit download page. Notice how everything you need to make a decision is there for you.

Click the little blue diskette to download the file.

Also, be sure to download the correct version of a software for your operating system.

An x86 is for a 32-bit operating system; if you're working with a newer computer, download the x64 bit version. Some softwares run on both versions. If you're unsure, check your computer's system details in the Control Panel.

If you've got a Mac and don't run parallels or some other virutal simulator, you will need to find the Mac version of whatever you're searching for.

One more word of precaution: Once you click on a link, File Pursuit will show you a very organized list of things you can download.

Take heed of the source website you're downloading from (it's the "Referrer"). In come cases, a password may be needed to open (to run a virus scan) and use the file. From my experience, the password is some variation of the website where you got the file (ex: with or without the preceeding "www").

I hope I didn't confuse many of you too much ... I tend to be long-winded but wanted to be sure I gave you all the information you need.

@Sidhesha: Remember what I said about looking for something too specific? You can, of course, but you're more likely to find golden treasure with simple generic terms ... then let the good stuff pop up in the search results.

That being said, I did try to find what you asked for and came up short. You can try using this search term instead to see if you get better results:

filepursuit.com kinetic text software

Above all else, remember, your result MUST have the "filepursuit.com" site in the link or ... I don't know where you're being sent or what you'll be downloading. Filepursuit actually gives you access to the download files.

And, please, be open to any suitable replacement to what it is you actually want. Try using different keywords until you get satisfactory results. I wish you the best.

I've found that when I find something that works for me and share it on the forum, pretty soon those ways stop working for me. Too much traffic to those download links, I suppose.

For example, I can no longer get to downloadha directly. I get a 404 Access Denied message. Thus, I'm having to use FilePursuit to get what I want. It's a little less sexy and takes a moment, but it works for me.

I'm hoping the FilePursuit method continues to work.

I actually received a very nice PM recently from the developer of FilePursuit, thanking me for the recent spike in interest in his search app based on my share of How to Find Stuff 2. We had a nice discussion.

So let's hope this method won't suddenly cease to work.

Translated to mean: try this while it still works!
