Fans of military as a genre should love this book for its hard core (and sometimes gorily detailed) battle scenes and it's devotion to the realities and stupidities of War. SF fans should be intrigued by the near-future-meets-past scenarios and everyone with any semblance of an open mind should read the no holds barred upfront reminder of the prejudices of our (all too near) forebears and be impressed and appalled in equal measure.

I've now read this book (and the other two) at least three times. Frankly, I've lost count; I simply can't stop enjoying the novels. I think my only criticism would be "John, why can't you write a 4th book in this World-view". Please? Please!!
