If you are using HD camcorder, you are getting the output in AVCHD format. Camtasia does not recognize this format, so you need a converter to convert the video to mp4.

You have to opt-in for the download as you have to receive the activation key. They are giving it away for free to build their list, so no problem in giving away the email. This is going to help in getting updates in future.

I have already installed the software. I will give you a feed back after I try the conversion from my camcorder.
