RE:
Half of what the BTF guys try to tell you is "true" in the sense that it actually happened, but when you find out the whole story, you realize it's bullshit.
For instance, they like to tell you that a guy earned $millions with BTF methods. Sure, the dude earned a shitload. The thing they don't tell you is that he DIDN'T do it niche marketing and ranking for valuable KWs. He had a lot of connections with professionals (lawyers, chiropractors, etc) in southern California, and charged them an arm and a leg to rank BTF style sites for them. This was just as offline marketing was getting huge and it was easy to rank. So in essence, he wasn't using BTF in the sense they lead everyone to believe (niche marketing) - he was doing offline. The BTF guys also pimped some other guy that made something like $17k in adsense in 2.5 months from BTF. Used his story to pitch in their newsletter and get new buyers. Only thing is that the guy wasn't using BTF - he was cloning blogs and buying traffic. Had his adsense account banned and never even got paid. (I know this stuff b/c I bought into the full version of BTF a couple years ago and learned it all the hard way.) For all the bullshit Kelly and Mike spout about "being available" to help and all that, Mike wasn't on the forum for MONTHS after I joined. He only showed up when he was ready to start p****** their "Project Profits" course. I was on the forum when Panda first hit, and Kelly wasn't seen for weeks after - not a peep. BTF was great if you wanted to rank a blog for a term that had pretty much NO competition - I mean none. Of course, you wouldn't make any $$ from it, but that's beside the point. I even remember a long thread on the forum from back then where people who were doing BTF "by the book" weren't making any $$, and the people that were doing shit their own way were. The comment from a couple pages back re the videos being long, seriously boring, and devoid of a lot of information was pretty much spot on. Want the summary to Mike Long's "One Article to Rule Them All"? Write a long article and spin the shit out of it. The End. They weren't p****** their own SEO services when I was using their stuff, but from what I've seen, all their own SEO services are now are outsourcers pumping out articles via UAW and I think SYA. If articles don't get you ranked, go buy powerful links. Back when I got it, they were still recommending a trackback software. I dug around and found it - paid $150 for it, only to realize it no longer worked, the software wasn't supported, and I couldn't ever find the guy to get my $$ back. Not to mention getting trackbacks themselves was worthless. When I emailed Kelly to ask why he was still recommending the d*** thing, I pretty much just got a "oh - my bad". Other tools they recommended weren't worth a d*** either, in that you'd either have to seriously dilute them if you wanted to use them on more than 3 sites, or pay for multiple memberships/licenses. Don't think they're still recommending some of the same stuff, though. When Terry Kyle and Matt Carter put out their "SEO Experts Academy" product some time back, Kelly and Mike offered a module of their "Project Profits" conversions course as a bonus. I think it was some 4-5 months before it was delivered. I know I made a post on their forum after 10 weeks saying I hadn't got it, and got roasted by the fanboys. Another thing about the vids - as soon as you sign up, they'll take you into niche selection. First thing they tell you to do is just promote BTF. And all the CB screenshots they use - it's from selling BTF. Not from their niche sites. Their prized example was their "Kidney Diet" site. When it got knocked off its #1 slot, somebody asked what they were gonna do to recover and neither Kelly nor Mike answered in forever. The person asking did get roasted by the fanboys, though. All in all, BTF was a shitbag of a user experience for me. Get the .pdf, look it over, and roll on. The rest of the shit isn't worth having, IMO. |

RE:
Thanks mrw76 for speaking up about BTF. My experience with them was pretty much identical. These people are masters of the CON and they know how to whip people into a frenzy of excitement over marketing techniques that have no substance. I could go on but mrw76 pretty much summed it up. BTF=STAY AWAY. My 2 cents.
