For sharing site annoyances...

I see lots of folks here (particularly newbies) who have lots of trouble navigating the file sharing sites.

Of course there are very good reasons that they are having troubles; most of those sites get their incomes from all the invasive junk they throw at unwary users and all that junk is designed to get in the way deliberately.

What follows is some info which I hope may help a bit.

1. Choice of browser seems to be a good place to start...
Some browsers are more susceptible to annoyances just because, well - they are - because ads are considered a part of the landscape now.
Some are even participating in spreading ads for their own profit, I've heard.
That silliness is not for me, so I mostly use K-Meleon Pro which avoids it.

If you are really attached to your chosen browser though, it may be possible to tone down the invasive stuff at least somewhat, by=>

2. Having a functioning ad blocker; To me this is a non-question as I wish to remain sane !!

I use the Adblock Pro which came with my browser and it does a pretty good job IMO=>

Here are 2 more possible options I just heard about - as yet untested by me:

AdBlock Pure is a new ad blocking extension for Chrome and Chromium.
It is fork of AdBlock that blocks ALL ads (unlike AdBlock and Adblock Plus).

Adblock Fast is a new faster ad blocker for iOS, Android, Chrome, and Opera.

3. File sharing sites have ways which can be seen and avoided.

For instance mir.cr ALWAYS responds the same way - and when opening the page for the actual site (like zippyshare for example), all one need do is watch carefully for the URL to show and hit ESC quickly to stop most of the junk; then, rather than clicking the given URL, highlight/copy/paste it right into that same browser tab to get there minus the junk (mostly).

Other sites have their own variations, but mostly they stay the same and with a tiny bit of concentrated effort can be avoided.

Tip for using ZippyShare in Chrome.

Wait till all counters stop.
Left Click the Download site.
Go back and right click and you will be able to download.

Sometimes you must do this twice.
